I've just spent a couple more days looking in fifty more places, and arguing with my dear wife, about new places to look for that large roll of favorite Case knives. I've been extremely successful in not finding them. In fact, I don't believe that I ever will. Things go so smoothly, when one has something so extremely aggravating to Devil them. From the replies to my post, it doesn't sound like it's uncommon to have this happen to others. Thanks for the replies, and let's all enjoy this common occurrence, before our leaders find that we so thoroughly it, and ether tax it or outlaw it entirely.

I try to keep my knives grouped by maker, but recently I was on a wild goose chase trying to remember where I put a certain knife. I do have a butterfly/opener trainer that I can't locate anywhere. It was cheap but a gift, that's what keeps me from writing it off.

It has been my experience to give my mind a rest from beating myself up and quit looking for awhile. Most of the time it then will pop in my mind where I put the item. I feel like you will find them soon, jwwood

I agree that a missing item is always located in the last place you look, but sometimes that "last place" has been looked at multiple times.

I found a yellow jacket nest the hard way this morning. So I went to get a wasp bomb to put the little beggars out of my misery. The wasp bomb was no where to be found - garage shelves, gardening shed shelves, work shop, garage apartment storage freezers, house cabinet for cleaning gear, tool shed, equipment shed, warehouse, barn. I even went out an looked in the west garden/orchard.

Then I did it again. And again. And again. (Obviously, there's a reason I hit 20K+ steps today.) I was REALLY set on sending the evil minions of the devil on to their just rewards. Finally, I had to admit defeat, leave the nest be and abandon any effort to finish moving the brush pile to the burn pile.

Thios afternoon, I went out to the west garden/orchard to harvest the okra and some roma tomatoes. I decided to water the three Brown Turkey figs I transplanted Wednesday. While standing there soaking figs down, I looked over at my 200 gallon water tank trailer and there sat the wasp bomb.

I had walked by and looked at the trailer at least 4 times this morning and never saw the black aerosol can.

So I finished watering the figs, took my harvest inside and went to do battle with the flying servants of Beelzebub.

The moral of the story is - Never give up looking for a missing item. Just go do something else and it will show up. Eventually.

I read through this the other day and wondered who would be silly enough to have these issues. I can now answer that question without doubt and that person's name is Bob who went to the ATM last Monday and got some spending cash. After returning home Bob decided to go for a walk and thought he was carrying too much cash and stashed away part of the ATM withdrawal in the usual location. That was all well and good until Friday when Bob needed some cash and went to get it and low and behold it was gone. You know how it goes turn every drawer inside out and upside down. It was maybe Saturday afternoon when I noticed a book that was near the usual cash stash location and I picked it up and sure enough the cash was tucked neatly away in between the pages. I guess I thought it would be safe in the book and just let it go at that and didn't go to the trouble of stashing it away. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
