I for one am glad you opened it - very nice looking bone color. I got to enjoy receiving and opening a new knife and it didn’t cost me one red cent!! Nice addition to your collection of 07 Case Mini-Trappers. OH

I've noticed they're rescheduling packages to look like they're showing up way later for some reason, when they're on schedule.

Had one from GA scheduled for Tuesday that showed up yesterday.

I had the same dilemma with this one. It's 33 years old, and unopened. Not a expensive knife at all, but when will I ever find a

another unopened one? I opted to leave it sealed and play with my other 250+ knives that aren't in packages. I agree with most

in this thread though. Just taking the shrink wrap off to open and see it didn't make much difference in value at all, IMHO...

Besides, if I couldn't have seen my Buck, I'd have opened it! ENJOY THAT SUCKER!!!

I agree with you...and I wouldn't have opened that Shark Skin Buck knife clam package either. IMHO, I believe you've conserved the value to some extent by not opening that old of a knife/package. Those series of knives are selling for double & triple the original prices now.

I have a three knife Remington series knife set still in the original hermetically sealed package I picked up at an estate sale. It's nothing spectacular, but I chose to keep it pristine and in the original packed state. It's a psychological thing, I guess, and probably has nothing to do with value, just an individual choice.

Can we agree that knives in ClamPaks are eligible to be treated differently than knives in tins, vis-a-vie opening. I'm not saying you should. I'm just saying that you can without being judged. No right or wrong, just different.

Then again, my last beer (or any alcohol) was back in January of 1994.

Once you break the seal you have to go more often.
It's used a lot around here.

I don’t think twice anymore about clamshell packages. I bought a S&W modern style knife many years ago at K-Mart, must have been when China-made was first coming on the market - it was in a huge clamshell that included the knife in a tin. I opened it and found it to be low quality, it has been in a tacklebox ever since. My mother-in-law gave me one for my birthday a few months later, so I kept it in the clamshell. When we moved two years ago I picked it up to pack it in a packing box, the clamshell plastic had yellowed and then cracked all to pieces. Guess that plastic is only made good enough to display in a store and then get home and get thrown away. OH
