Here is what's happening in my neighborhood!

Dang...we need rain!!! We are about seared off, down here in south Texas. Dove hunting starts on the 14th of the month. I'll start shredding, this morning...mowing down the hunting areas, to keep from losing a bird. It will take me a fraction of the time, from previous years. Probably 70% of the area won't need to be cut. It hasn't grown because of the heat and drought. It was last cut, Labor Day weekend, last year
Some chances of rain this week. It was 104 yesterday. Friday, we are supposed to "cool down" to 93. I'm ready for fall!!!

I read online that the old farmers almanac is predicting a rough winter for most of the country. The old folks around here use to say that for every fog in August you could count on a snow the following winter, well l counted eight heavy fogs and there were a bunch of the light variety. Kinda hope it ain't nothing to it although I ain't going nowhere anyway.

This is such a relief from the 90 - 100 degree temps. I'm loving it.

We are heading into a Labor Day heat wave for Southern California. I expect our beaches will be PACKED. Luckily, I'm not in the "interior"...

I am really ready for fall, too. Heat indexes are over a hundred here. Next week we are supposed to have a little relief.

Just stepped outside at my workplace and got slapped upside the head with some beautiful fall weather. Here in Southern Illinois it is a breezy, mostly sunny day in the mid 60's, about perfect. Later tonight, we are supposed to get our first readings in the 30's for this season. I thought this pic of the bean field across from the parking lot at work, summed up the day pretty well. The field is still showing some green but mostly yellow/changing to brown under a nice fall sky.

That is a great picture, Ike! What is the green hedge row in front of the soybeans?
We've had two mornings in the 50's and I imagine we'll be seeing the temps increase to more normal levels in a few days.
This 55 to 80 weather is really nice!

Philip, the outer fringe of that field is still quite green, probably about 50' in before the yellow starts. So, it is all beans you are looking at in the photo, just varying colors.

David, that is a beautiful sky and a great looking forecast as well

10-4, Might be a different variety of beans with a longer maturity date so folks can’t see Bambi’s activities out in the field, like a living barrier::shrug::

It started out downright chilly here in Southern Illinois, with a strong breeze. The sun has the temp up to the mid 50's but going down to 30's again tonight.

A little color starting to show in the trees, but it won't be all that vivid until the Hickories and Hard Maples begin to turn.

Brenda and I did our usual weekend day coffee walk, today she was wearing her Breast Cancer Awareness Month t-shirt. In the upper 60s/lower 70s now but it was cooler when we walked. Another gorgeous weekend day.

Cold one here this morning. Just checked the weather,winter storm warnning, 7 - 20 inches of snow.

It's 23F and lots of smoke in the air, heading for 8F with sleet and snow Sunday morning. Getting too old for this.

We got 2 1/4 inches out of that storm this morning. With the cold front our temp is now 48 and falling.
A 23 mph wind make it feel about 5 degrees cooler.
