Imperial was a large conglomerate cutlery company which owned many brand names. Those marked Imperial were well made but generally low priced knives. The knife pictured has what is called shell handles, a low cost construction technique. The stamp on your knife was used from 1954 to 1988 according to Goins’ Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings.
Use the search function here on AAPK (located under Quick links on the upper left of this page) to find more info. Just do a search for “Imperial”. Here’s one post showing dates of Imperial tang stamps usage. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12153&hilit=Imperial#p100066
