Re: Survial?
I was ready to pile on and jump on camouflage but then discovered I don't know how to spell it.

Re: Survial?
For me, "camouflage" is a hard word to spell right, but "Survival"? What a screw-up! Especially when it's among the biggest text on the box! They most be running it through "spel cheek".

Re: Survial?
I tried to find a translation, but I couldn't find the word "survial" in any language. I was thinking perhaps French, but no dice. Maybe SMKW knows?

In one of my former jobs I proofread product data sheets written by technical writers. Sometimes the most obvious mistakes, like titles and headers, are the most difficult to catch.

Re: Survial?
As someone who has more or less depended on his ability to spell things correctly,I am not really surprised that something like this slipped through the cracks. Likely as not the printing was done overseas where the ability to spell things properly can be a bit less than ideal.
It brings to mind instruction sheets for various items that were composed and printed in Japan in the 1950's.Their translations into English were almost comical although in most languages the sentence structure is vastly different than English.
I also seem to recall someone posting a tang stamp of a knife that was spelled incorrectly. Can't recall which company though.
When type was set by hand for newspapers and books errors were pretty common and if you were a proofreader it must have driven you crazy.

Re: Survial?
Could this be a Smokey Mountain version of the The Inverted Jenny (also known as an Upside Down Jenny, Jenny Invert)? Maybe that spelling mistake is worth a fortune, like that rare stamp? $$
$$$
$$$ ,,, FYI; The Jenny Invert is a 24 cent United States postage stamp first issued on May 10, 1918, in which the image of the Curtiss JN-4 airplane in the center of the design is printed upside-down; it is probably the most famous error in American philately.

Re: Survial?
I've had this knife in my collection for 5-6 years, and it's been in the family for decades. It's one of those cheap Japanese-made rulers that reveals a knife blade with scaler and bottle opener. Just now noticed they mispelled "knife"!
Note how "KNIFE" is spelled "KNIEF".
