Thank you for the kind words.It is something I just developed to work on knives that are concave ground.With flat ground blades you can work them with any flat surface.I prefer one of my Smith diamond stones covered with a couple layers of wet-or-dry sandpaper.I usually use a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil to aid in the cutting.
The dowel allows you to keep your fingers away from the sharp edges should it slip off the blade while polishing. Don't ask how many times that has happened to me. :mrgreen: The dowel is also a bit flexible allowing it to follow the contour more closely.
