Nice old knife. I have owned a couple over the years. I believe I sold one to a member here at AAPK.

https://ebay.us/z16MXx Some but not all Clauss knives were made by Case.

Here’s the OP knife. I agree with Gene that not all Clauss knives were made by Case. However I think this one probably was. I’m betting if you removed that shield the backside would say “Case”.

The same knife sold on Ebay a few weeks ago for $740. I assume it was returned because the listing now says it has center pin cracks on both sides.

These aren't my deal, but was curious as he'll. Thanks gentlemen, I knew it was strange enough that someone (everybody but me) would know. Tom

Although they are some of the rarer knives it's not unusual to see old Case hobos and some folding hunters with can openers. The OP Clauss appears to be a Case 6452 pattern which has a can opener viewtopic.php?f=66&t=36151&p=653948&hilit=6452#p653930, as does the 6465 folding Hunter pattern. viewtopic.php?f=66&t=66628&p=812492&hilit=6465#p812492

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=63842&p=764656&hilit=6465#p764000

BTW if you're interested there are a lot of posts here with pictures of Clauss knives by Case, Queen and other makers. Just do a search for Clauss.

Thanks a lot, Ken, I'll check them out. Another rabbit hole that I won't remember in a month. ::dang::
