Napanoch FD

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Napanoch FD

Post by edge213 »

Tang stamp:
Uncle Henry
Schrade +
LB5 USA

Blade etch:
Napanoch Fire Dept.
1926 65th. Anniversary 1991

115 on bolster
The shield is a Maltese Cross with Napanoch 42 on it.

A buddy of mine purchased some Schrade lockbacks from Roland/kootenay joe. I bought this one off of him. Since I am a retired firefighter I thought it was pretty cool.

Anybody here a member of the Napanoch Fire Dept??

I think that is one of the nicest of all LB5's. The round shield and it's position closer to the end of the handle, along with the blade etch, all really 'flow' together well. It is the only one i have seen so it is not common. Wonder how many were actually made ?
Thanks for posting it.

All six of the Schrades he purchased from you were nice knives. I liked the white handled one also.
To bad the Damascus bladed one had the pitting on the one bolster. It did have a really cool sheath.
Do you know if any other Schrades came with that type sheath?

Yes, the fancy leather sheath came in 2 sizes and was used for some special edition knives. I have a "Matco Tools" LB7 with the large size fancy sheath. Will take a picture when daylight.

If anyone has one to fit an LB7, I would be interested in purchasing one.

I would like to get a shirt patch to display with the knife.
Is that something you could help me out with?
I'm willing to pay.
