the,"Butt Ugly Knife Club".......
Danno's post on a butt ugly knife prompted me to take a short run through my accumulation to see what I could come up with for what I consider,"butt ugly" knives. The criteria is varied:it may be the shape of the knife overall;it may be a blade;there are many reasons.
So here forthwith are ten of what I consider,"butt ugly" knives; please feel free to add any you might have and why you think so(or not;it may be readily apparent).

Re: the,"Butt Ugly Knife Club".......
Some ugly ones being shown, but that "USA" springer takes the cake. I don't view those Wyoming Skinners as safe, but they've got to not be as bad as I think they are, given they seem to sell a ton of them.
I admit, I personally like that Cressi. Found one for $40 (albeit, yellow plastic handles instead of cork); so I put it on my watchlist. Hopefully, the seller comes down to about $25-30, which I still feel is high. The sheath has a broken and mangled-looking belt slot.
I have quite a few ugly, cheap knives. Most came as parts of used lots.
Tac-Force. A knife I carry when doing nasty, dirty work, in which dirt, mud, whatever will get in the knife.
Coast BX330. Ugly, cheaply made, and dull from the factory. Came with the Tac-Force in a lot. I don't use it. The belt cutters on both knives are useless.
The Estwing 4" blade Bowie wasn't that cheap, and I bought it on purpose. It's ugly, it's heavy, but I like it. It's a very strong knife that takes all matter of uses and abuse. The only thing that isn't metal is the sheath! The knife is forged from a solid piece of carbon steel, and handle is painted over. I'm strongly against batoning a knife, but this one I think is made to take it. I have actually used it for splitting a shovel handle so I could put a wedge in to keep the shovel from falling off its handle again.

A useful tool, but the looks of a slug. I think these Kleins win the ugly prize. Fake wood grain brownish maroon Delrin.

Re: the,"Butt Ugly Knife Club".......
It could've been a pretty nice pattern, except they had to go with aluminum handles that look like a crumpled up Hershey Kisses wrapper, and G-10 for bolsters.
I almost bought one to get rehandled; but then I realized between the knife, paying someone to rehandle the knife (materials, labor) and postage back and forth; I might as well just get a Camillus-made Remington Bullet Trapper; since I figure it would be about $50, if not more to get a $15 knife redone.

Probably this will not be popular, but the $600 Medford has the personality of a lawnmower blade and the Spyderco looks like someone knocked it's teeth out to me. Can't get into the cheap looking handle either, should be a $30 knife if you ask me.

Re: the,"Butt Ugly Knife Club".......
I got suckered into a fake Medford and am glad I didn't spend $600 for a real one. They are as ugly as a mud fence. The green handles on the RR Half-Hawk ruin an otherwise perfectly good knife.1967redrider wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 2:36 am Probably this will not be popular, but the $600 Medford has the personality of a lawnmower blade
The RR Double-Take is not a particularly attractive knife and I can't imagine it would be handy to use.

And then if you want to get completely ridiculous we have the ten blade "double five trapper" or the seventeen blade,"load it in a sock and use it for a club" knife. The former was a Pakistani special and the latter an Italian creation.

Here is a butt ugly knife I have. No markings. Looks home made. Heavy. It is really sharp however. Got it for a fiver at the antique mall. Dont know why I thought I needed it but I like it for some reason.

I looked at those for a while trying to figure out if I liked em or not, then decided that I didn't like em.
I liked the idea of a light weight Aluminium knife but I don't like how it looks.

Home-made from a bandsaw blade by a friend:
Doesn't hold an edge well... I think the blade was overheated while grinding the bevel. Its ugly, but I like it for some reason.

Found this, on a picnic table, in a park. No one was around. Being a knife person, I picked it up...but; this is seriously butt-ugly.
