"Anti-Butt Ugly knives": Daggers........

Post by knife7knut »

To me a dagger is probably one of the most beautifully shaped knives ever made;even if they aren't all that practical. Some will say that having two edges available instead of just one is much better when you're working along and don't want to stop and tune up the edge of your knife. Others feel the blade shape doesn't lend itself well for whatever task you are doing;unless you're just stabbing something.
I've assembled a selection of "double edged divas" here for your viewing pleasure ranging from the smallest to slightly larger. Maybe later I will include some single edged ones as well. Please feel free to add any you might own.
Starting off with a couple of really tiny ones. Not really practical as a cutting tool but neat little daggers. The silver one was a present from my youngest son.The miniature khindjal appears to have ivory handles and a brass blade.
The clear dagger is a proposal I made for a knife design out of Lexan II. Won't cut much but it will inflict pain.
The next one has a Lexan handle(temporarily)until I can find the proper size leather to repair the handle:a Case V-42 I bought off e-Bay advertised as a letter opener.
Next two are Sheffield knives:one a tiny one by A.Paterson and an ivory handled model by Alfred Williams.Again purchased on e-Bay as a letter opener.
Next up is an African dagger with notches cut into the blades for no apparent reason other than to inflict severe damage when removing them from the stabbing victim. The owner must have been very small(a pygmy perhaps?)as the handle is not quite 3 inches long. The pommel looks like a flint arrowhead(a tiny skull crusher?) Following that is a similar one without the notches.
Last ones are an A.G.Russell Sting(1977)and a couple of belt buckle knives. The single edge model is a Bowen;the other two unmarked.
