That is just bizarre. How could anyone mix up Gen Grant and Gen Rommel?

It's kind of funny, but in reality sad--schools are graduating kids who actually have a grasp of history this well. My folks took me out of public school in kindergarten, and I went to a private Christian school through the seventh grade, when the lady who ran it retired and moved to PA to be closer to her daughter. I did 8th-12th homeschool through Abeka Academy. And then, I started getting my BS in management Seeing the (quite shotty) work many of the classmates my age did (all the while, those in their '40s, and '50s did quite well) in forum discussions and the like, it's a shame how we've gone downhill so quick. There's no accountability as to why the public school system is so bad. It seems when students test poorly, they just lower the standards. I took a break about halfway through, and started doing an industrial electronics/robotics (mechatronics) program at a community college. We had two groups; one was mostly kids straight out of high school, then a second group of guys in their '40s, '50s, and even '60s. The younger group had two that were particularly lazy. Heck, one even pushed a button randomly when we were touring a Pepsi bottler, and he caused about an hour of downtime. Our group was mostly laid-off, and retired coal miners. The youngest two were myself, and a guy who was normally an engineering student, and actually smarter than myself. The one I worked the most closely with didn't even have a high school diploma, but he worked very hard. He'd operated loaders, dozers, and haul trucks in the mines for nearly 40 years. I helped him get his GED, and he was offered a job teaching a new heavy equipment operation class.

However, I suspect there was a series of famous general knives NCC did, and perhaps the wrong photos got uploaded. A quick DuckDuckGo search brought what the knife should look like up.

On another note, speaking of mix ups. I ordered a Leatherman-type tool here recently from Fastenal. I got a large gasket. D'Oh! They refunded my money, but I have literally ZERO use for a 16" diameter gasket.

A minor rant about e-bay and other sources. First, I know there are lots of honest and savvy sellers there. But, examples like this are common too. Words like "vintage", "early" , etc. are attached to lots of things by way of advertising. Who hasn't seen an old ink eraser advertised as a "Civil War scalpel found on the battlefield" ? It's always "Buyer Beware". Sad part is people get burned and many are too embarrassed to complain so the weasels among us go unchecked. I find the same thing with regional auctions, pictures of only one side of a knife, etc. and other intentional or unintentional misrepresentations that are potential pains, or just impossible to straighten out after the sale. I'm lucky and glad to live in a place where a long afternoon's ride can get me to quite a few shops and flea markets where I can handle an item before the decision to buy, often with the actual seller present for negotiations.
O.K., 'nuf said. Happy New Year to All, ::handshake:: So long 2020 ! ::mdm::

I don't believe this to be an attempt by the seller to mislead a potential buyer.
I think the seller just posted the wrong picture for the ad.
In fact, I just sent the seller a message alerting him/her to the error.
I thought it was slightly humorous.

Absolutely correct.
He was an honorable individual, outstanding general, and he did do what he could to stonewall hitler, and the nazi's.
To bad he was caught, and then forced to commit suicide (to protect his family).
He was one german that didn't deserve to die, while so many truly evil got off the hook (South America/Middle East).
What can you do... In war, there are no winners, only the party who looses less.

I'm not saying he was innocent in the whole thing, no party was. But he WAS NOT a war criminal, much less a brute.
His tactics were speed and surprise, try to minimize as many casualties as possible, on both sides.
He was a true military man in every sense of the word; decent and honorable.

Good job, Skip. It was probably an honest mistake by the seller, and it is good to see when people are responsive and do the right thing!
