Re: Advertised VS Actual Blade Length
To me, it depends on the closed length of the pocket knife. On small patterns I expect the length to be as advertised. On larger patterns, I can accept up to 1/16 of an inch. I know that may seem weird, but I think smaller patterns make a shorter than advertised blade length look more obvious.

Moderators please lock this thread. I received a reply from Buck, will not buying their products again. I do not want to continue the discussion, sometimes you have to pick your battles. Believe it or not it saddens me.

It sounds like customer relations are not high on their agenda,
just at a guess.

Didn't even sign their email. Anyway I'm done before I go on a rant.

Re: Advertised VS Actual Blade Length
Buck has the best customer service in the knife industry. The blades are obviously within their specifications. I’m not crazy about the way they sharpen knives either. They usually have wonky choils and recurves that don’t belong. But I appreciate the quality of their knives at the price point, and will happily keep buying them.
I wish you could buy them un sharpened.

Re: Advertised VS Actual Blade Length
Buck is well known for excellent customer service. I suspect as eveled says, the OP blades are within their tolerances - the factory sharpening is probably a hand operation which varies a little from knife to knife. Some folks have expectations that are different which is fine, it’s your money and your expectations. In my case I probably wouldn’t have even noticed on those blades, and especially if I had only bought one without having another to compare. Having two made the difference more obvious.
