I have inherited quite a few pocket knives. Most are new as they were from a small country store around 2000-2005. I can look on eBay but there are so many different kinds it’s hard to find what I have.

Is it ok to post pictures to see what you guys think?

It is fine to post pictures of what you have. You can start with a group picture to see what kind of reaction you will get. Based on the description provided so far which is knives that are approximately 20 years old your expectations should be pretty low. If you had said you inherited a Case knife display from 1900 - 1905 (120 years old), then you would have something. Pocket knife value follows the same value principles of supply and demand that every other item follows. A scarce item in high demand equates to high value.

There are some new pocket knives that are currently experiencing low supply and high demand made by GEC and Northwoods. These came after 2005 and would not have been distributed to a small country store.

So everything you’ve posted so far are made by Case. You will see that name on the master blade tang stamps and the shields. Each knife will have a pattern number stamped on it, either on a secondary blade or the reverse (pile) side of the master blade. The knives also will have a date code stamp which is indicated by the style of the tang stamp and the number of dots and/or X’s. You can learn how to decipher the dates and pattern numbers by clicking on the “Research” link in the header way up there at the top of this page. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/page/research.php

If you’re interested in determining values, once you determine the pattern number and date code you can easily do an advanced search of eBay sold listings to see what similar knives of that pattern and approximated are are selling for.

if I decide to sell am I better off selling on eBay once I figure out what I've got or trying to sell on a board such as this one?

Selling here or selling on eBay both have their advantages and disadvantages. Selling here lets you keep a bigger piece of the sale since fees here are lower. You also have a targeted audience here - people are here because they’re interested in knives. To sell here you will need to buy a premium membership and/or open a store. Details can be found by clicking on “Support AAPK” on the upper right of this page.

Selling on eBay gives access to the worlds largest on-line auction. The audience is huge. The competition is also huge.

Either way you have a lot of work to do. AAPK is not an auction site so in addition to photographing and describing each knife you have to decide the price to ask for it. You have to photograph and accurately describe each knife on eBay also but there you can just start the auction at a low price and let the bidders find the selling price.

Ebay might be quicker, and an auction could bring in good bucks, but a platform like this one you have an instant buying crowd and mostly reputable buyers! I'd listen to Ken's advise, he's a well liked long standing member here! Good luck with whatever you do!

The first 4 are Cheetah's from the 70's and will bring good money in mint shape . I like selling on AAPK much nicer People and as Ken said you get to keep more of you money than Ebay

You have some nice knives worth a cosiderable amount of money. In addition to selling each knife individually you might consider selling them all at once to a dealer. You won't get as much for them but it would be far less work. Selling on eBay can be very problematic unless you are fortunate enough to get reliable buyers that will actually quickly pay for what they win and not want to return what they purchase. eBay fees will run about 13% of the prices realized. There are probably peolpe here on AAPK that would be interested in buying them all but be prepared to get some fraction of what you would get on eBay. As far as selling speed goes, selling all at once, then eBay and then AAPK sales. The more money you may get the more time and effort it will take. Your first task shoud be to get a ballpark retail value for each knife. There are people that can help you with that but that may include a fee as well. Good luck.

You have a very nice collection of knives. You could join the group discussions
and learn about all the different knives you have. If you want to limit the
amount you have to save and want to make a few bucks I would start up
a store. People here could help you set up a store if you have any questions.
And you would know the knives would go to a good home!
