Is Case making Moore Maker now?

Looks suspiciously like a 6318 to me but I think the main blade looks a little off.
What say the experts? Is Case making Moore Maker knives now?

I think they have been for a while. I bought one a while back that was said by the seller to be made by Case. It has white smooth bone handle covers and sure looks and feels like a Case to me. Even the label on the box looks like a Case label.(Note the date on the label is 4/12/2019).

Since they dropped Queen as a supplier several years ago, Moore Maker pattern markings have used a letter to designate the manufacturing source (for example U for Utica-made knives). I see the example in your link, and on the box label, has a “C”. Made in USA. Don’t know what else it could be.

He did. He owned Case for about three years, went bankrupt and sold it. Not sure what that has to do with Case making knives on contract for Moore Maker. What am I missing?

Trace since you’re in the Panhandle you should just take a drive over to Matador and drop in on the Moores. Probably be just a couple hours drive for you. They’re good folks, probably show you around. Take some bucks - you’ll probably see some knives you need.

Yes Case is making maybe three patterns for MM - the 18, 54, and 07, IIRC.

Moore Maker really has only a few options for made in USA slipjoints - They are already using Bear and Utica, so realistically, Case is the only other US company left. There is GEC, but I'm sure that they are 100% booked up and also much more $$.

I don't know why the Case made MM knives have smooth white bone handles, given that MM's "signature" bone color is yellow.

I'm about 3 hours from Matador and it is always in the back of mind anytime travel south is discussed. Had been planning a stop by there on my next work trip but covid shut that down and we still don't know when we'll get to in person training again. Most of my non-work travel is focused northwest to see the grandson but since his mom and he moved back to Louisiana I haven't traveled much at all.

I do have a work friend who lives minutes away from Matador and gets by there regularly. Definitely friendly folks and lots of knives that you don't see on the web often.

Hoping that MM can get Case to use yellow bone, that would make the MM premium over Case prices worth it. I do have MM from Bear, Queen and even an older Camillus. Glad they are not shielding both sides of the knife like on some of the others. Actually glad they aren't using GEC, I'm getting to where I'd rather have time to choose than deal with a crazy scramble.

That's a Case made knife for sure. You can tell the pattern is identical to the 6318. And Case stockman have that proud trademark sheepfoot's blade that sits higher.

All I can say is, Case can, most definitely, make a better knife than Bear. I recently picked up a Moore Maker lockback by Bear, and while it was workable, there was a nasty sanding mark on the handle towards the front of the handle next to the liner, and the tip was burnt. It's also started to develop a little wobble--WITH LIGHT USE! I really only carry that knife around the house, and it's mostly just opened packaging, packages, mail, and sharpened a few pencils. My Utica-made double lockback Moose (well, Trapper as they call it) is surprisingly nice. I hope they also switch to the 6318PU for the punch blade Stockman. Especially when the Bear version is more expensive than the two Shepherd Hills SFO 6318PUs that are the current punch-blade 18 patterns available. I'm another for yellow bone too.

And, Case is making a 07 pattern for Moore Maker? Shut up and take my money!

Agreed about Bear with the exception of MM's 3206DLB, surprisingly good f&f based on my sample size of one anyway. Bear supposedly bought Camillus tooling after the bankruptcy and I was hoping this would have been 716 clone but it uses a traditional lockback setup. Still watching for one of the bone handled versions that's not cracked to pop up for sale.

If Bear and Sons are making anything for them, then that is a step DOWN in quality.
