Question on Bunker-blades & scales

This is my second knife question, this one of a Bunker. What are the 2 blades called, also, is the attachment for a belt or what? What do you think the scales are made of. Lastly what was the original purpose of this knife.

I could be mistaken PMN, but I believe you have a sailor's knife. The large blade looks like a modified sheepsfoot and the other a marlin spike. I think you're correct about the attachment being to secure the knife to your belt. The sheepsfoot blade was for cutting rope, and the spike was for loosening knots in the rope. The covers appear to be metal of some sort. You may get other info though from others who know far better than I!

What's really weird about your knife is the shackle/lock release for the marlinspike. It appears to also have a bottle opener designed into the shackle hasp as an extra feature.

There ya go! A shackle/lock release, not a clip for your belt!

Thank you both for info that I really appreciate. The 'shackle' does not release anything, it is just a loop for attachment to a thin belt, the opening is not very large. Wonderful to get this information that I can now provide in my listing. Ok what is a shackle/lock release?

The covers/scales are not metal, they seem like compressed leather, fairly easy to scratch.

From what Cody described, it would appear you need to move the lever in order for the spike to be released from a locked position. Can you pull the spike out by hand, or do you need to move the lever? And the covers could very well be compressed leather, we've all seen those on other knives.

The spike is not controlled by the loop, it comes out by hand. I have another knife with questions, that may also have a compressed leather covers. Thank you very much, to all of you.

The loop, or bail is indeed for a lanyard to prevent losing it and it is also the lock release for the marlinspike. If you extend the spike fully and can close it without depressing the bail something is broken. You can see the cam on the bottom of the bail, it is a release mechanism.

Fabulous information and good news. I never had the spike opened all the way, when I tested it just now, I was unable to close it, without depressing the bail. Great news all around.
