That beer has a special meaning to me, my mom had a husband who passed, his father was a Yuengling salesman/? for years back east. I have seen some of the most awesome Yuengling ephemera. I have a few but regret not caring more at the time. My knife collecting friend from PA(JSega51) stayed over for a hunting trip a year or so ago and brought a case, haven't had it in a long time.

Now it's somewhat of an Urban Cowboy beer, one of the Montana ski resorts has a PBR Martini, which is PBR in a Martini glass with a chicken wing for garnishment.

In the early '80s Pabst began a decline that culminated with them moving out of Milwaukee in the mid-90s. At sometime during that era, the taste changed so I stopped buying it. Pabst had been my beer since sometime in the late '60s or early '70s when we dumped Schlitz because it got to be too expensive. We could get a case of Pabst returnable bottles for $2.98 and it tasted good so we switched. ("We" being the younger element of the NCR service department) At some point in recent years (draw a big circle around 2010) I heard a rumor that they had changed the formula back to the original so I tried it and it was the same old Pabst I had drank through my middle years. I adopted a zero tolerance for drinking and driving around 2000 and pretty much stopped drinking beer. Switched to bourbon and when I drink, it's been my drink of choice ever sense.

And speaking of bourbon....I'm not a hard liquor guy generally, but we were sitting around my buddies firepit the other night (drinking Miller Lite), and one of my friends brought out a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel. That is the smoothest bourbon - by a long shot - that I have ever drank.

Now I'm gonna have to buy a bottle of it, dang it.

Sometime around my senior year of high school, I came to the realization that I did not like where I was headed in regards to my drinking habits. Pretty much became a tee totaler, deciding it was more fun to watch the other idjits ...

Only in the last 2 -3 years have I again started to have the occasional brew. Corona was my usual choice, after I found I couldn't drink Miller Lite anymore ... stuff gives me a near instant headache. Somewhere along the way I discovered Blue Moon. I keep a six pack in the fridge now.

A little more than a year ago I found the 'pick your own' six pack fridge at Kroger. Sadly, there are only two Kroger's in the entire state of Alabama, the nearest is an hour from home, but minutes from my work (Auburn, AL)
So, guess how I've been trying out 'new' beers ....

My most recent test was Dos Equis Ambar. A little watery, perhaps, but worth a repeat ...

Speaking of bourbon, my wife treated me to some of this in celebration of my 69th rotation. It's smooth and has a good taste. 92 proof, never heard of it before and is more than a lunch pail budget can drink with any regularity. More of a Old #7 guy but this is good.

EDIT: That would be BIB & tucker. Looks like a couple of sips is a couple too many

I've been noticing, more and more of late, that there is a bunch of new, non-% beers, hitting my local store shelves. And not cheap horse water, they are all high-end brews.

Last time I read up on said subject, the brewers have been working hard on there techniques, trying to bring quality 0%'s, to the market.
And it's good news for guys like me; meds and beers, no mixie...
