My knife for today is an inexpensive lockback folder by Columbia that I ordered from an Asian site just because I liked it's design! This one is 8 3/4" oal/SS drop-point blade minus a n/n cuz it's wide enough to pinch open, SS modified Maltese bolsters with faux MOP inserts in the bottom one's, SS liners, brass pins and inlays, black ABS covers, and extended lanyard hole. Weighs about 6 oz.'s, and only factory sharpened. Bears Columbia logo and wording etches, and model number front tang stamp. Yup, Columbia makes some purty good, wallet friendly cutlery. Inexpensive, and good, that's a fine combo in my book.

I own two ar 15's now but I should have kept the Galil. It would cycle the cheapest 223 and I can't say that for the ar's.

Wish I knew what "cycle the cheapest 223" means, but O.K.!

Not jamming up using cheap steel cased ammo. There is only one thing better than a sale on ammo and that's a sale on beer!

That rifle looks like a Galil I used to have, made in Israel. I've been wrong before but I like the knife anyway.

You could be 100% correct regarding the rifle, living up here in Canada we don' have anywhere near the exposure to firearms that you guys in the US do, so I said AR strictly based on the shape of the stock, but if you've owned the weapon I'm sure your assessment is more accurate than mine. Thx for the correction, and new information(to me)about rifle models!

Yesir mate, that tis a Grail, not a AR-15 (Armalite Rifle-15).

It's not hard to understand, when we see rifles in this style, to call them an "AR".
AR-15 was the father of the M16, and we all know where that became famous...

AR-15 is just the model number, not the rifle type.
It's like calling the Lee Enfield, K98, Garand, M14, Lebel, M1917; a Mauser. It's just the styling, not the exact rifle itself.

If one wants to know, what tis an actual assault rifle, just look up the Stg 44. That tis a genuine assault rifle.

Modern definitions are murky . One needs to go back, and learn the history/origins of the assault rifle. Then we wouldn't have all these problems with uneducated people, being misled on lousy definitions.

A true assault rifle, basically boils down too: Selective fire from single, semi, and fully automatic. Be a personal weapon. Have a large magazine capacity. Be designed for short, to medium combat ranges. And use a medium powered cartridge (bullet & casing).
It tis a soldier's personal combat rifle, not a rifle in of itself.

Hope that helps a bit Markie, online searching is your best friend in this case.

Thanks for the additional info Willy! Since guns are so taboo up here I've never taken much of an interest in them, hence my lack of knowledge, but at least I now know the difference between an AR and a Galil/Grail. Now, if I only knew how it's spelt I'd be a happy camper!

I'm going with this non-folding FIXED blade stiletto today as my companion! It's the longer of 2 non-folding FIXED blade stilettos I own, the smaller being 9" oal, and this one 11" oal. I bought this knife from a fellow member's online store well before I knew he was a member here, and due to it arriving damaged we got into an argument regarding the damage. Fortunately, we were able to come to a compromise and things worked out. This knife is marked "Rosco" and was built in Japan, and has a SS bayonet blade with extended ricasso, NS flat-guard bolsters, brass liners and pins, and black ABS covers. The 9" model is built identically but is marked "O.M.O.R.", and was also built in Japan. Approximate weight of 4 oz.'s, and has never been sharp. I owned the 9" model before this one, but as soon as I found this knife online I ordered it so as to complete the set. Both are pretty much only letter openers, but since I'd never seen a non-folding FIXED blade stiletto, I wanted them. The 2nd pic shows both knives for comparison!

A seller that I bought some of my autos from had a Latama non-folding stiletto with gorgeous cream colored horn covers, and the entire knife was in much better condition than my two, and it had a price of US$500., and he got it! Don't know if you know or not, but Latama is a well known knifemaker that builds beautiful, quality autos. Some of their older flat-guard picklocks sell for big bucks to this day.

Keeping with the fixed blade theme, I have this very nice dagger to post today! It's an 11" oal United Cutlery offering of a Samuel C. Wragg Civil War era dagger/SS full tang dual-edged mirror polished dagger blade, ornately engraved NS bolsters, NS pins, and stag covers with black/red spacers. Nice n' heavy at about 10 oz.'s, and both edges sharp. Has U/C model number 709 and S.C.W. Cutlery markings, and was built in Japan. Fit n' finish is superb. This is a knife I'd wanted for some time, and ended-up buying it along with my "Horsehead" dagger that I've previously posted!

Since you guys seem to be enjoying my daggers I'll stay with that vein and show ya a couple more! The model today is a replica of the Fairbairn-Sykes or Wilkinson Sword commando dagger. The originals measure about 11 1/2" oal, but this one comes in an inch shorter at 10 1/2" oal/full-tang SS dual-edged dagger blade, solid SS hilt, and SS handle with cross-cut knurling. Weighing-in at around 9 oz.'s, and came with both edges sharp. I found this knife on Ebay and it was built-in and shipped from England. I've long admired these knives, and was fortunate to come across this model at a very reasonable price. Excellent fit n' finish, and just feels "right" in your hand!

As promised, I have another dagger to accompany me today! This knife was built-in and shipped from Poland, and was described as an OSS weapon, although, there has been much discussion regarding the validity of that description. Some say "yes", some say "too big ", so I'll leave it to you to decide. It's 11" oal/1-piece brushed SS body and blade, knurled handle with ring accents, and removable "ears" as seen in the 2nd picture. Has a comfortable weight of about 8 oz.'s, and the tri-sided blade is completely dull due to this being a stabbing weapon as opposed to a cutting one. Came with a quality black leather boot sheath, and is totally unmarked. I thought it was cool, so I bought it!

Marco, That is indeed cool whether or not issued to the OSS, which I doubt. The removable ears are the first I have seen. The handle looks to be a quality piece. You remain...Mr. Excitment!
