I was sitting in the music room, man cave, or whatever I call it today, when I thought of this thread, and my favorite "comfort" knife. The knife show we went to in Boaz, Alabama, about a month ago was a nice outing and I brought back a special knife. My wife bought me this little Buck 303 Cadet because I picked it out and she wanted me to have it.

It's not new, has some defects and some spots. It kinda reminds me of me. I have a few defects, spots and things that need to be repaired. So, I had it out a little while ago just looking at it and touching up a couple of dull blades. It's is now my official Comfort knife, since my favorite person on this planet is my wife and it makes me think of her.

Well fellas, I'm just about out of knives to post until some new one's arrive, but I do have a couple left! This one today was purchased through Ebay, came from China, and I got it strictly for it's looks and ornate engraving. It's a very simple lockback that measures 7 7/8" oal/SS drop-point blade with n/n, 2-piece engraved body, no liners, and a lanyard hole. All the SS accounts for it's 5 oz. weight, and came factory sharp. The only markings are an etch on the mark side blade saying "BODA/Stainless". Walks and talks smooth and snappy, and fit n' finish is standard Chinese quality. In my mind, this is a newer version of a standard jack-knife, albeit somewhat different in appearance, one you'd drop in a pocket for the day, and use regularly throughout performing various duties. The drop point is my favorite blade to use daily and really like that engraved handle. I could see carrying that in my pocket. Hang in there Mark.

Beautiful knife Leon, and thanks you so much for sharing! I really enjoyed your story about how you acquired it. When we post the history and special aspects of our knives it makes viewing them so much more interesting, rather than just "blah, blah, blah, here's the knife." And I'm in the same boat as you my friend, defective, spots, and all the other flaws we pick-up as seniors, but at this point in our lives we try to be the voice of experience and perhaps show others what NOT to do. I think it's just great that when you have this knife with you it causes you to think of your better half, what a wonderful thing. Welcome back to this thread, and please keep on sharin'! Mark!

Thanks Nick, I find it amazing that some of the least expensive knives can be as solid and useful as the higher priced models, and that knife is the proof. I'm doing well, thanks for mentioning it. How bout showing us some more of your models!

I have this simple lockback to post today guys! It's 7 3/4" oal/440C SS drop-point blade with n/n, SS bolsters and liners, brass pins, black ABS covers with brass accenting, and a lanyard hole. Has a comfortable weight of about 3 oz.'s, and arrived factory sharp. This knife is unmarked, but I happen to know it's a Columbia build. Mine came all the way from Bulgaria, but they are readily available here as well. A great little EDC for all sorts of daily tasks!

Thanks buddy! I actually have a lot more time in than 12 years, I practised the steps for 12 years going to 2 meetings everyday 365 days a year, until they became a habit, and now I use them in my everyday life. That program works very well, if you want it!

Simple maybe, but clean lines and the dividers within the black handles give it just enough flash to compliment the bolsters and blade. I like it!!

About 6 months ago I stumbled across Aliexpress.com, a Chinese site, and as I was browsing a pop-up happened stating that as a new customer I was entitled to a 1st time purchase of certain items for the staggering sum of $0.01 with free shipping, so, I browsed all the available items and settled on this knife, although, I originally was looking at the same knife but one that had a true drop-point blade, whereas this one has a subtle clip-point blade, but the one I wanted wasn't part of the sale. As happens so many times, I was expecting some kind of "hook" so as to be eligible for the $0.01 sale, but I put it in my cart and went to checkout. At the checkout it said the price was $0.01 so I went ahead and ordered the knife. No sooner had I hit the "Buy" button than a price of $1.89 showed on my invoice. I attempted to contact Customer Service immediately to see what this was about, but like anyone who has purchased from this kind of site can attest, reaching C/S was next to impossible. I was sitting there fuming over this outrage when I remembered anger wouldn't solve anything, so I bit the bullet and logged-off. It suddenly dawned on me that I could go online to my credit card provider and see exactly what I had been charged, so I did. Sure enough, I was only charged $0.01! All I can make of this is, that for the sellers benefit the price showed as $1.89, so Aliexpress.com. could pay them the actual price, and Ali would absorb the difference. So, I ended up with a handy little user for $0.01, but even without the promotional price it's a very, very inexpensive knife. Another knife I purchased mainly for the way it looked, even if I didn't get the blade profile I wanted, and it only cost me $0.01! Yeah, glad that turned out well for you on the price thing. Your right, customer service with some sites are a pain. I had a double charge from a website one time, after I had paid with Pay Pal. I disputed the charge through Pay Pal, which they have to do an investigation until it is settled. The only down side is that during this time your Pay Pal account is put on hold with the card or bank you have on file with Pay Pal. You can't do any transactions until it is settled. Minor thing, but at the time I was bidding on an item with Ebay, so when I won, I had to pay with a card which I am wary of online and why I like to use Pay Pal.

Smitty! Thanks for the compliment! The design on the handle isn't actually an inlay, it's either etched or painted on there. Probably painted due to the low cost, and, it appears it could be scratched off or wiped off with solvent. Don't know if you're aware of this or not, but I don't believe you can use PayPal on those Chinese sites. I've had to use my credit card for a lot of my online purchases, and I had the card compromised on 1 occasion, although I wasn't charged for the fraud, but I did need to have a different card issued, which takes time and puts everything on hold. I've been sending money to Mark at SSk for a few months now for knives I've bought from him, and I do that through P/P, and one such time I sent the money to the wrong address, but I got REALLY lucky when the recipient sent it back nearly immediately. I guess none of us like the P/P fees, but you certainly do get a feeling of being protected when you use their service. Have a great weekend!

Well, I don't know that ALL of you guys will sign-up to Aliexpress Nick, since many members don't like to support the Chinese sites, but for anyone who does, I believe you only need to register an account with them and then the offers and coupons will start popping-up. You can find some fairly decent knives on those sites, and so far the only out-and-out blatant counterfeiting I've seen were for some AKC and Benchmade knives, but the majority are only unmarked copies or clones. I have a Pro-Tech "Don" clone and a Benchmade 1000 "Spike" clone currently on their way, and I'll post them once they arrive. How bout showing us some more of your knives Nick!

Very nice Marc. Reminiscent of what some used to call a Slimline Stiletto in some of the original Italian pieces. Classy slim lines for sure.
