Hmmm! A half day on Monday and then a half day on Saturday. Makes me wonder if he had something he needed to do on Monday afternoon so he made up the time on Saturday morning. Seems crazy that that would be their regular schedule.

Thanks for showing that Cal. I suspect that was a reasonably good wage at the time. Maybe the employee was a skilled cutler. 
Reminds me, when I got my first job (other than hauling hay and mowing lawns) in the mid-1960s, I made 75¢ an hour. Of course that was far less than the going wage for full time “blue collar” jobs at the time, but as an inexperience kid still in high school I was glad to get the job. It paid for gas in my car!
