Very nice looking knife Mark. Looks wicked and sleek. It looked familiar to me for some reason and then Smitty said stiletto. It reminded me of 2 old knives that I bought from a guy in the Merchant Marines back in the early 80"s. He would buy a bunch of cheap switchblades and sell them here at home. I've had these stashed back in an old ammo can with some other stuff for years and had completely forgotten about them. The brown wooden handled one is about 10.5 inches long and the green plastic ? knife is 8 inches overall. Amazingly they both still fire off pretty fast.Madmarco wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:38 pm Probably the best way to describe this knife today would be a "Gentleman's" folder! Has a comfortable weight of 2.4 oz.'s, and came sharpened. The blade displays Columbia/USA SABER markings. Walks smoothly to a distinct half-stop, and talks loudly with a resounding "click". An ideal knife for your vest or watch pocket! 8)WIN_20210320_13_28_02_Pro.jpg

Re: Comfort Knives!
Hey Mark, well i have pretty much always assumed these were just cheap italian knives cause that guy always had a bunch to sell cheap. The wooden handle knife just has a capital "B" with rostfrei lightly engraved on the tang. The green handle one has an engraving of a man's head looking to the left and I think rostfrei below that.Other than that I don't see any identifying marks. I'll look around and try to ID them. I should have known you would already have one of these with all those cool knives on your walls.Madmarco wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 8:26 pmYou're talkin' my language now Nick!CluelessNick wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 8:27 pmVery nice looking knife Mark. For some reason the Edgeco "kit" knives from the 80's come to mind when I see yours, but, yours don't appear to have the removable sex pin that holds the springs in place, so perhaps they're a different build. The longer knife has Rosewood covers, and the shorter has green pearlex(imitation MOP)covers. I am far from being an expert, but, due to the fact that your knives operate well and are in great shape, they could be valuable to the right collector, so whatever you do, DON'T sell them cheap or just give them away before you do your research. As a-matter-of-fact, if it weren't for the strong possibility of them being seized by Customs, I'd be asking if you want to part with them. I've included a pic of my Edgeco that's the same as your longer knife, albeit only 8 3/4" oal. Note the large sex pin located right below the safety slot, as this is a good way to help identify an Edgeco "kit" knife. I see a stamp on the rear-tang of the green knife, can you tell me what it says or looks like, or describe any other markings on both knives, as this might help me identify them? Thanks for the compliment on my last post!
P.S.-I don't know if you're aware of this Nick, but if you click-on a picture it will expand in a new window, and if you click-on it again it will enlarge so you can see the details!WIN_20210322_15_22_45_Pro.jpg

Re: Comfort Knives!
Thanks for the additional info Nick. Your knife with the "B" sounds like a high quality Frank Beltrame, although, if the "Frank" is missing it's tough to tell. It's entirely possible the "Frank" has simply worn off, but I can't say for sure. If your knife is a Frank B, then it's not just a cheap knife, not priceless but not cheap either. On the knife with the man looking to the left, does he have a headband on, as this would help to identify it? Also, how do the blades close, do you "swivel" the top bolster to disengage the tang pin, or do you need to "pick" the lock-tab off the tang pin with 2 fingers, as this info will help to determine how old they are? I'm sure you know that "rostfrei" mean stainless or rust-free in either Italian or German, can't remember which. I'm in the process of setting up a better display for all my knives, and when it's done I'll post some pics for you guys. Thanks for your praise of my knives Nick, I appreciate it!CluelessNick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 9:06 pmHey Mark, well i have pretty much always assumed these were just cheap italian knives cause that guy always had a bunch to sell cheap. Re: Comfort Knives!
I got 3 new ones in the mail this morning from my friend Mark at SSk, but I'll post them 1-at-a-time so I have some posts for the weekend! This one is a Catoctin Cutlery/Koncept Knives K4401 "Back Alley Fighter" linerlock, and it's 8 3/4" oal/SS dagger blade with 1/2 swedge and stud, black aluminum body, single SS liner, adjustable pivot, screw construction, and lanyard hole. Fairly light at just 3.5 oz.'s, and arrived extremely sharp. There is the K/K logo stamped on both sides of the handle. Built in the good ole' USA! Many thanks to Mark for being patient until I could afford to buy this beautiful knife!

Another "Comfort" knife. My Browning Ducks Unlimited that the shield had fallen out of, so I had a spalted maple shield made for it. It also had a big nick in the top of the blade, so I put a swedge in it to cover it up. She turned out to be a great EDC..

Your Skyline would be a spittn' image of my Koncept if it had the same blade. I have great respect for Kershaw knives, and yours is a beauty! Having a real good day, thx for asking!

That's another gorgeous knife Kerry! I've seen some Browning folders that I really liked, although, another member was telling me that the Browning's he's received were not up to par. I actually only own 1 Browning, but that knife is solid as the day is long, perfect fit n' finish, and very well built. I love the innovative shield you used, to say nothing of the blade repair, really nice save buddy!toomanyknives wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 3:44 am Another "Comfort" knife. Re: Comfort Knives!
This is one of the knives I received recently, and I've admired this knife for a long time, but their high prices have kept me from pulling the trigger. I found this used copy in perfect condition for a very reasonable price, so I jumped on it. It's an Al Mar "Quicksilver"(previously called "Silver Eagle")Secret Service stiletto, and is 7 7/8" oal/SS modified spear-point blade with stud and top swedge, all SS 2-piece body with cutouts, single copper liner, tip protector latch, and lanyard hole. Nice n' heavy at about 5 oz.'s, and arrived razor-sharp. It displays the Al Mar logo and wording etched on the front blade, as well as the copy number 15/200 etched on the back blade. There is a latch on the butt-end that folds open/closed to prevent unwanted openings in one's pocket, as seen in the 2nd pic, and, this is the only one I've seen that doesn't, and never had a bail. This is a high quality folder that will take it's place alongside my other "better" knives!

Re: Comfort Knives!
Awesome looking Al Mar. The only experience I've had around AL Mar knives, back in 2010 when I was in Iraq a buddy of mine had a 2000 Al Mar Sere. It was a slick operating knife. I was carrying a SOG Trident Tanto. The Sere was a tad lighter, and was a little smoother feeling in operation when opening. The SOG is a good knife, I still carry it today, but the Al Mar frame has a full liner insert, so maybe a tad better built.

Being a Japanese build certainly explains why your Browning appears to be such a solid knife Kerry.
The Japanese builders are producing some of the nicest knives on today's market including Mokis, Mcustas, and many others. And their prices are more than reasonable considering how well they're made. You are correct that my Browning bowie is a beast, and it's super comfortable in-hand!

This is the last of 3 knives I recently received from Mark at SSk, and it's just as nice as the other 2! It's an unnamed Dozier designed Kabar linerlock dagger that measures 7 1/4" oal/D2 steel dagger blade with stud and dual-flippers, light grey aluminum 2-piece body, single SS liner, adjustable pivot, screw construction, and pocket-clip. Very light at only 2.3 oz.'s, but extremely sharp. Has an etch reading "DOZIER DESIGNED" on the front blade, and a front tang stamp of KABAR. A nice addition to my collection!

Yeah Mark that Al Mar is a beautiful knife. As for that lockback the only other one I have is that yellow handled Colonial. And I really like the way it works. Hopefully this one is not just a piece of junk. This is a high quality folder that will take it's place alongside my other "better" knives! 8)WIN_20210325_12_42_16_Pro.jpgWIN_2021n that doesn't have a bail.0325_19_16_08_Pro.jpgThe Al Mar is a new favorite of mine, even though I've only had it for a couple of days. I have a few more models coming over the next little while, and I'll be sure to show them as they arrive. I'm fascinated with the knife you're waiting for. Although I've never cared for knives with more than 1 blade, I really like the looks of the sheepsfoot/wharncliff (?) on your knife. I believe the locking system on that knife is called "humpback", at least that's how it's referred to on stilettos.
