Two more Folders
With all the rain and bad weather i cranked up the heater in the shop and started building a couple of folders out of the blades i had. I did the temper on one of the folder springs and it works great. I had an existing spring i bought at a knife show and built the knife around it and the blade( Solingen blades). Every time i make one now i see improvement. They work just like a real knife. Thanks for looking. Brent

I really like your creations! I think that it is knives like these, that our Grandfather's would have used and abused.....but would have always had in their pockets.
Good job!
Keep showing us what you can create.
Where do you purchase all the blades?
Cheers,
D

Re: Two more Folders
I have a wholesaler that has different kinds, shapes and lengths of blades. I had thought about putting some in my store, B&B Knives, but haven't yet. I think i am going to order some more shortly. I had almost given up on the folder making and gave it one last shot and it worked out. buying the blade i guess takes away from it being a scratch knife but i can buy the blade cheaper than the metal to make one. Most of them are Frieder herder solingen steel blades. thanks, Brent

Re: Two more Folders
I've been dabbling in folders myself lately and I think these look great. I'd be very happy to get these kinds of results

Re: Two more Folders
I have been using scrap metal for the liner and brass welding rods for pins. I do use a good steel for the spring when i make one or it won't temper. I don't think the pic shows it but i used a red liner between the steel liner and the wood for a little color. I am trying to get up the nerve to try a wire inlay. I don't want to try something too compex, maybe just some straight lines of some sort. Thanks for looking, brent
