books on knife making

Are there any books that you guys recommend on knife making. I have never made one (except for a wooden folder that I whittled out a long time ago just for fun) and am interested it trying it out.

I picked up one from an old knife maker getting out of the business.
The title is "How Knives Are Made by Blackie Collins. It is easy reading & has some good pics.

I think Ben Kelley's book of Pocket Knife Repair is a good one to have, Adrian Harris has a similar book. These are good reference books.

How Knives Are Made by Blackie Collins is a good one as mentioned previously.

Custom Knifemaking by Tim McCreight has 10 projects in it that go from easy to more difficult. I would go to the library and look at the books there first before buying a book or a DVD. I like to look before I buy.

This is a great on-line reference. Read every section in the "manual"....Bob Egnath put this on-line a long time ago, and his estate has maintained it......I still read my copy of the print-out from time to time - and learn something new each time.

There's also the book, "How To Make Knives" by Richard Barney and Bob Loveless. You'll need pretty deep pockets, tho'. -- Not for the book, but the tools and equipment they use to create some of Mr. Loveless' knives. It's also got a section with Bill Moran, for the forged knife, and a section on making a knife with only hand tools. (Possible, but it's a lotta slow work).

It's a good read,
