A Labour of Love 1920s Kabar Dive Knife

Post by Timstools »

I picked this up a great price recently, the restoration was an intensive slow laboursome task removing nearly 100 years of salt water corrosion, I left the handle and tang as original as possible so one can still tell age. LT thanks for the info on it.
If anyone knows of a screw on brass scabbard for it i will pay around $200 for it.

cool tool. a little confusing on the dates(1915,1920) though. all records show ka-bar being first used in 1923.

You may be correct on the date, I just checked and I should have put date as an approximation, its is likely to be 1920saccording to this link https://www.kabar.com/history.jsp thats when they started using the Kabar tang stamp, it says Union Cutlery on the reverse side of the tang. It brings visions of the movie "20 thousand leagues under the sea" with those huge bronze helments and air hoses, I think its from that era.
