Colonial pocket knife

This another of the knives I bought in a coffee can years ago. I dug it out and cleaned up up a little. I don't have any research material on the Colonial Knife manufacture. Looking at the small bolsters this knife may be of some vintage, the material for the handles is something I don't immediately recognize, and suggestions on either the age or the handle material is greatly appreciated

I forgot the markings,,,sorry!! The knife's markings are Colonial, over Providence, over RI (Rhode Island)..

According to Goins' a Colonial marking with "Providence" written out in full (as opposed to being shortened to "Prov.") was used between 1926 and 1938. Also the way "Colonial" is curved is indicative of this time period. The handles could be several things. It's hard for me to tell without seeing it in person, but I would guess that they are either plastic or bakelite.

Greyelm, Thanks, that site is not yet complete but when it is, it will be interesting. I was hoping some of the more knowlegable would have dropped in..My search on the internet hasn't turned much up. Thanks Mike
