Hey dog, I've been skiing in Vancouver via Seattle and did some sight seeing in Seattle over 10 years ago. Mt. Ranier was socked in both times. Nice picture!

Probably too dry in texas we got plenty snails none like that one though. Been raising thornless blackberries for a few years. Picked 4 gallons this morning. Picked 4 gallons 2 days ago also. I am going to start giving some sprouts away. This is too much like work.

Much later than I would have preferred...I have some feedback! It is well worth noting that I am not an experienced outdoorsman, camper, backpacker, survivalist, etc. Your mileage may vary, and perhaps this is best taken with some salt.

Before I started, I got the hose ready to go; safety is paramount. I used some readily available tinder: dryer lint. After fluffing it up a bit and chasing it around during a brief pickup of the wind, I got to striking.

Initial results were disappointing; no sparks at all. But I kept going. Once enough of the black coating was scraped away, I got some sparks. I was able to ignite the dryer lint by scraping the ferro rod with both the little ceramic scraper and the spine of my Morakniv Garberg. Owing perhaps to the small size of the ferro rod, it didn't produce huge showers of sparks, and it had to be very close to the tinder to achieve ignition. Getting a good grip was also tricky. Yet overall, I'm pleased with its performance.

Do I think it's a worthwhile purchase? Yes. Unless you take minimalism and space-saving to great extremes, I'd suggest it as a supplement to a more substantial ferro rod. Unless you have a very favorite bush knife that isn't ferro rod compatible, the little ceramic scraper isn't necessary, in my opinion.

I love berries! Those look delicious. Just noticed this past weekend that the red raspberries are getting ripe but I didn't have time to pick any.

I was watching Lone Survivor and they were eating those things. Ever tried one? I also heard they carry parasites.

Well, we went from having copperheads everywhere to having rat snakes everywhere.

I haven't seen a copperhead in the last few weeks (have killed 8 this year), despite making the rounds every night with a flashlight and shovel. But I have seen Rat snakes almost every night the last few weeks. I don't mess with them, just let'em be Hopefully they are eating the copperheads.

So Copperheads come out mostly at night? I only see dead ones after we brush hog and before the birds eat them up. But I'm ok with that!
