Lots of downed limbs and trees, it was a wet, heavy snow. The app worked better today too, said my top speed was 21 mph on one of the downhills.
Only had to pop my skis off to cross main streets, and 1 section of shoveled sidewalk that was about 25 yards long.

Just did an XC tour of the hood. Not sure why my mapping app went crazy like it did, also it was more like 3 miles. A fun workout!

I think winter skies are very distinctive. Perhaps more accurately, I find winter light very distinctive. Fine shots as always John.

Here are a couple of shots, in the drab of winter, of the lazy creek that bisects one end of our property. During summer months, I have no problem wading across. I also threw in a pic of the HSB that I had in my pocket. These aren't exactly JMH pics but were inspired by him, it was probably a "short" 3 mile walk.

Ike, I'm amazed at the beauty of the creek, especially the high banks. We don't have very many creeks that have that sort of bank, ours mostly meander through cypress, pine or hardwood swamp bottoms. A canal might have the same banks but those don't have the natural beauty as what you shared.Waukonda wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:04 pm Here are a couple of shots, in the drab of winter, of the lazy creek that bisects one end of our property. My thoughts are that deer crossings could possibly be pinpointed making observation a bit easier.

My middle son, my dad, myself, and three friends had a great rabbit hunt today. The pack of beagles did awesome, 7 or 8 LONG races, and between us we bagged 4 rabbits. I had the good fortune to get to bring them home and they’re soaking in the fridge as we speak. Great day and great memories.

Wade, a great hunt ends with a bang! (That’s a tired old saying). Looks like you guys had a great hunt - love the beagle music. I’ve been trying to line up a rabbit hunt lately, gonna be February I believe - got the land but no pack of dogs, gotta a guy coming but he’s been slow. I haven’t been squirrel hunting since I was about 16, I think 50 years in between hunts is long enough so I’m going with a buddy this coming week. Been researching Brunswick Stew squirrel recipes and think I’m ready to cook. OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark
