Salesman's Sample

Post by johns7076 »

Picked this up from Mark Erickson. Came out of his Mexico new old stock find. Not sure about cleaning it, I don't want to disturb the markings on the blade. Any advice will be appreciated.

I have a few salesman samples. I'd run over the rust spots with the led end of a #2 pencil. It will remove all the active rust, but not the salesman ink.

The factory number of that knife should be 9239-1/2, if it is 7-1/2" open.
If it is 8-1/4" the sales number is 9239.
The markings are usually an acid pen mark, rather than ink.

Regarding tang stamp and length pictures attached. Other than the pics and documentation I know nothing about this knife.

I didn't see that it was marked for Svoboda. That must be their stock number.

Mark said Svoboda, I agree it looks like Bonsa. Probably further evidence of “my latest mistake”.
