Valor Brand made in Germany??

I recently found this knife a box of misc. stuff. I cant find anything anywhere about it. Not sure if it's a real Valor Brand knife or counterfeit. Here are pictures of the knife in question. If it's real does anyone have any information on it. When it was made and the type of steel used ECT. Thanks in advance for any help.

I looked in my books and they just show Valor / Japan. On eBay I see there are German Valor fixed blade knives, but no folding knives. Judging from your pictures that looks like a quality made knife and should bring a price in line with Schmidt & Ziegler and other better German brand pocketknives. I would think.

Valor was an importer and distributor. Known mostly for importing knives from Japan.

But like most companies with that business model, they likely imported from various countries at different times, maybe depending on supply constraints and currency exchange rates.

Valor is such a common name I wonder if more than one company used it. My book shows Valor / Japan and list those knives as being valued at $3 - $15 each. My experience in owning a few of those knives is that evaluation is about right. Then there are Valor / Miami knives which looks to have a tie in to Valor / Japan and was likely importing / exporting knives from various global manufacturers depending on style and value. Then if you look for Valor / German knives it appears these knives are much higher end knives and better made. This is only one - there are many.

Also, according to this listing this knife was made in the 1970's. I would guess that folding knife in the OP is from the same ilk and is a quality, hand made in Germany knife and not of the Valor / Japan - Miami quality? Doesn't someone have a Goins, and doesn't it list the various Valor brands?

In my opinion it certainly is not counterfeit.

I can't imagine anyone counterfeiting a Valor.

German Eye makes a pattern like that knife. Dark bone looks like early German Eye plus the blade etch looks similiar to German Eye. Thats the first german valor i have ever seen though.

Wow, thanks for all the information it is greatly appreciated. I was looking for several hours and could not find a single thing except for Japan and Miami. You are all a wealth of knowledge.
I got lucky when I looked through this box destined for the land fill. Also found a Gerber Silver Knight, a case 6333, a Parker Cutlery Company El Diablo, a steep mountain with silver moose inlay, a Pakistani 13507 and lastly a Broderna Johnson fixed blade with sheath. I believe it's a scout knife from the 40 to 50s and has been used in it's time.

I found this other Valor folding knife and have completely changed my thinking on the subject. This knife is stamped Japan and also has hand made in the blade etch. Another thing to note is that it also has what I think is a shield with the word Valor in it. That is the same emblem used on the Valor, high end, German fixed blade knives. It would appear Valor either in Japan or Miami contracted with companies globally to make knives. Apparently when they had knives made in Germany, they used Olbertz or another quality company to create their knives. Very much in error for a price guide to list Valor knives at $3 to $15. My book is from the 1990's, but even then, these better made German knives were selling for much more. The value would be determined more by where the knife was made than the name that was stamped on tang. Many of these German, fixed blade Valor knives look to be high quality. Hard to juxtapose their value to a disposable, scuba knife made in Japan, though both are stamped Valor.
I also see how much in error I was in asking Tom where the subject of counterfeiting came from. This knife is listed in the Counterfeit Forum, and it would also appear that even a half-wit, such as myself would have noticed that before posting. It's certainly not a counterfeit but has been interesting to learn more about.

Out of all the knives I found that day by far this valor is the best. The blades are so tight I'm scared to close it with my hand and it has one heck of a snap to it.
Only reason I posted him the counterfeit was I could not find anything on valor made in Germany. I can't really find anything to compare it to to price it out. They appear to be very rare and you would think that would help increase the value but it doesn't seem to really affected too much. The only place that seems to have any information on it is If I remember correctly is worth point auctions but I'm not a member so I can't see what they sold for.
Funny you mentioned a diving knife. I just acquired one a couple months back. It's a Decor.
