PappyOpap wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 1:34 am I rescued this little Lobster Pen from the 127 Yard Sale this past fall. Got it from a box of junk knives for $1.00. It is three and a quarter inches closed. Each blade is marked (Miller Bros. Meriden). The bone is really pretty. My camera does not do it justice. I think it is the only Miller Bros. in my collection.
I can see why you rescued it, it's lovely! The file/cuticle tool is different from what I usually see, thanks for sharing it!

No, not that I can see. It looks handmade. It's pretty heavy and the blade is 1/4" thick

Went to my Dr. appt today to see why my hernia recovery was going so slow and painful and I got good news. the gun shop that just opened right up the road from the hospital had three old pocket knives and I bought all three for $20. The Dr appt news wasn't as good. All is OK but the Dr. told me that a hernia patch over a 5 year old patch just takes longer and hurts more. They never mentioned that before the surgery. The knives are a Keen Kutter(sleeveboard), a Gerber silver knight, and I think the serp.jack is a Primble Belknap. I can see a word ending in the letter E over ----KNAP. It's stamp is almost gone but it is stamped 7994 on the reverse tang.____Dave

Made a visit to the Webster Flea Market on our way home this morning. A bit disappointed in the outcome, I've done much better in times past, so I believe Scott got all the good ones already! ::poke::

Lots of China junk and a few HOKs around and most were too high to even dicker with. Lots of snowbirds and they are a "different bunch", no offense intended to my northern friends. Seems like good old August weather makes the shopping a bit better than in the spring. Never saw so many poor folks, about half the women had holes and tears in their jeans! Like I said poor folks, some of the fellers must not have money to buy any new britches, theirs's were so tight, I guess they just must have outgrown them. ::shrug:: And something else I saw today was dogs in strollers. What y'all think about that? Usually when you meet some one with as baby stroller you expect to see a cute little young'un not some little phoo-phoo dog. ::uc:: I told Miss Joy about my morning when we met back at the car, she said, "You need to get out more often!

Always try to find one of my good friends a straight razor for his collection, found a nice one and the ol' boy wanted a bit too much but he said he'd throw in a knife I was looking at for the asking price. The knife is a unused Camco electricians knife, TL-29 style, so I got those two.

Next I saw a box of POS type knives and you always should root through the pile as there might be a prize hiding amongst them. Well I found a Boker Barlow , the one with the neat stamped bolsters and a florist knife made by Kutmaster/Utica. These ended up being $2 knives and they both walk and talk with a little Quick Release applied. However, the Boker, a one-armed man blade was worn beyond belief, I just had to have that one to look at and show off! :)

Kutmaster Florist knife with a bail/shackle. Looks like the handles are "waterfall Ivory".

Another guy had a similar box of Chinese crap and down in the pile I found an old used Frontier Stockman and an unused Steel Warrior (China), solid little peanut style again $2 knives.
Frontier/Imperial stockman. Such a pretty shield deserves a better knife.

China to the rescue, worth $2 I suppose.

Webster is an amazing place, we're too old to see it all in a day. During the winter and spring there are literally 100s of vendors, anything and everything can be found there. It is worth a couple of hours if you have the time. If you enjoy "people watching", you'll be in hog heaven. ::tu::

Haven’t looked at this thread in awhile - AMAZING finds David, Painter, Scott, Knifegnome, dj, tf! I just don't have much luck at yard sales here, and the closest decent flea market Is over an hour away. Going to SC to visit my daughter at the end of the week, and she said she has seen some knives at antique stores there. Wish me luck!
