The seller says this is a Case 6208. The pattern stamp agrees, says 6208. However it’s not an 08 frame. When I first saw it I thought 06267. The 08 is not a swell center, it’s more a humpback. the 08 pattern is 3-1/4 inches. Swell center patterns are the 67, also 3-1/4 inches. And the 83 which is 3-1/2 inches.

Although the seller shows a picture of the knife next to a ruler and has it positioned to appear 3-1/4 inches long, the ruler doesn’t appear to be measuring from the end of the bolster - looks to me like it’s actually 3-1/2 inches. Which would mean the frame is an 83 pattern. Which has always been a three blade whittler - I’ve never seen a two-blade 83 pattern.

Factory error with 6208 blade in an 83 frame? 06267 with a 6208 blade? Cobbled frankenknife? Or? I’m probably missing something obvious - Someone smarter than me please help!

Ken, the seller calls it a Half Whittler 6208, but all the examples of that pattern (half whittler) I pulled up only have the "swell" on the spine side. Is that correct?

Correct. The 08 pattern has the “swell” only on the spine/spring side of the frame. The 67 and 83 patterns have it on both sides.

I agree the master blade doesn’t look right for the frame. Both that and the length (exactly why I hate it when sellers lay the knife next to ruler) could be distortions from the angle of the picture. Even giving the benefit of the doubt on that, it’s not an 08 frame. But the pattern stamp on the blade says 6208.

I think that’s the most likely scenario. I’m wondering if it came from the factory like that - the rest of it looks okay and I can’t see that it was tampered with. Whatever it is, it’s been sold - seller accepted an offer for it.
