the SERPENTINE JACK

Here are some old stock Imperial jacks I got at the OKCA show last weekend.
All are shell handles and will be in my store eventually:

I would think this would be classified as a serpentine jack.

This one is a bit bigger, also sharp!

I bought 2 each of these knives and when I sat at my table to look at them I thought they were rusted shut.
I finally got one open and realized the factory lube in the joints had dried out and set up like glue.
I put some 3 in 1 oil in them and it was thin enough to thin out the factory lube.
I cleaned them up when I got home and now they work great!



This last one is one I just shipped out to a friend who collects Schrades.
I had the pic handy so thought I would show it as well.

The 893 was a non catalog item probably made for SMKW.
It was shipped to me in an 895 box. The 895 was a slim stockman pattern.

I have more serpentine jacks. I will post more pics as I find them.

Oh my, that Schrade is amazing. I love that Turkish clip and sheepsfoot. Wasn't there another similar pattern? I like it.

A pristine old '45-'55 Hammer Brand serpentine jack...mint condition and check out those vibrant scales...not too shabby for a 60 or 70 year old knife...

Well Bug, you inspired my choices today...I went for a stroll in the woods this afternoon, and brought along a trio of old serpentine jacks to pose for some glamour shots for this here thread of yours....

First off is an old Boker USA with some nice reddish bone handles...
Next up is a really solid Imperial with razor sharp snappy blades and a sweet California clip main...
Lastly is a really old blue swirl Colonial jack...with a re-profiled main, but still solid with no play.

Schrade 33OT, Schrade Walden 298 with peach seed bone, Schrade Walden 298 Delrin (my EDC), Case (a gift from Johnnie Fain), Queen, Remington, Camillus Sword Brand.
The Queen Remington and Camillus are ones I customized.

All Camillus peanut serpentine jacks.

Cattaraugus, Boker, Kabar & 2 Imperial shells.

Cope peanut, Schrade 72OT, Schrade 233, Cope jack, 33OT & 93OT.

2 Ulsters, 2 Imperial shells, Kingston, Camillus #14 & Anvil (made by Colonial).

I almost forgot this one, a Tidioute Beaver Tail.
