Railsplitter wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:39 pm Here’s an example of the trickery that USPS has been using lately.

I checked my tracking at about 4:00 am this morning. It showed that my package arrived at my local post office at 2:38 am and the expected delivery date was today.

I get home from work and check it again. Now that same update says that it arrived at 8:30 am and the expected delivery date is tomorrow. Thing is, they didn’t add an additional update. They simply changed the time and date on the one that was already there.

So how did they make an arrival scan at 2:38 am if it didn’t arrive until 8:30 am?

Just another one of their tricks like the recent false claims of weather delays.
I agree that records are being manipulated. For example, if you open a case (not a claim), the case is automatically closed after 3-business days whether it’s been resolved or not ::shrug:: WHAT ::shrug:: That’s giving Postal Management a false sense of how timely cases are being resolved for starters!

Excellent point, Tom.

I don’t like acknowledging it but it’s not a good sign when any service provider starts using deceit to cover their butts. It might take a while but that usually doesn’t end well.

I want USPS to recover from this mess as I’m sure we all do but I can’t help thinking that it’s gonna take an effort of epic proportions. I just hope it’s not impossible because unfortunately, that’s the way it seems.

I have had USPS notifications for a long time - occasionally, there may be a one day delay from the original delivery date, but I don’t think I’ve had any problem other than that. Now, I have had problems with late delivery when I’ve done the “hold mail” thing. Didn’t know the notifications would help things arrive on time better. I just like knowing what’s coming that day.

OH BOY HERE WE GO
I bought 23 knives from Jacksonville Florida
I’m 15 miles to the south of Pittsburgh Pa
For some odd reason my knives made it to DREADED INDIANAPOLIS over 6 hours out of line to the west

Hope they don’t do the “Indianapolis hold routine”

There is more than one mail distribution center in Indianapolis. It's the new one on the east side where the problems are. Some mail going through Indianapolis goes straight on through, some is bogged down. I think it depends on the routing. I had an item there for more than 20 days and the next entry on the routing was in Roanoke, VA. from there it went back to Indy and onto Chicago. I think (not fact) they are moving semi loads of mail to other, less busy centers to sort and routing them around the east Indy dist. center. If there are updates on the local news I will share them.

I see those triple scans at Distribution Centers pretty often. For us it’s usually 3 scans in St. Louis but this recent package had 4 scans in Evansville.

I have often wondered if there is more than one facility in those cities and maybe the package is actually moving.

Saw my mailman today
Super cool guy

I asked him why the scans always say arrived then departed then arrived then departed etc.
he said they get rated or checked on how busy they are and if they scan the package multiple times it looks like they are doing more work

I guess that makes sense but who knows
All I know is usps is awful!

This is getting ridiculous.
I've had a package stuck in Indy since February 25.
Also one I'm expecting from Scott/Triple F, it's been in Indy since the 27th.
I'm only 68 miles from Indy.

I've shipped 400-500 or more packages over the past years and never until this year have seen such delays.
In fact I've had most USPS ground deliver practically the same dates as if it were priority. A lot of my shipping over the past month has had banner headlines of weather related delays. Nothing is perfect, but this department has been very good around here until this year.

I agree.
I used to defend the USPS when people would bad mouth them. Not anymore.
Im fed up with this. There is no excuse for this type of incompetence.
I currently have 3 packages in the abyss.
I think I'll probably stop ordering online until this problem is fixed.

If you can choose your shipping I’ve had pretty good luck with UPS … I avoid FED EX HOME though.

I had three packages - shipped Priority - spend eight days in Indianapolis. They finally did deliver after 10 - 12 days in transit.

A time sensitive purchase i made j⁰ust just landed in Indianapolis today. I'm not happy.
