Thanks M&M. I had a Black Mamba .... back in the olden times .... and I sold it years ago ..... .....
and when I sold it .... it had not gone up in value the way you see things go for crazy prices nowadays

I was the opposite TopDog. After being interested in knives in my teen years, I lost interest in my 20s-40s due to a riotous lifestyle mentioned a couple posts ago. I missed out on a lot, including knife collecting. These knives do cost a lot more now than they did then, but when you compare the price of quality knives with them, I think they are a good value today, and are fine quality.GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 8:32 pmThose Blackjacks made in Japan were awesome knives back in the day and now they look even better all these years latter. .... ... I love this Bear & Son 4in Genuine India Stag Bone Sheepsfoot Barlow. Their Sheepsfoot Barlow has become my favorite Bear & Son pattern and I have been trying to collect them all. But don't be fooled by the good looks of this knife, it is a user! It has a very solid strong blade and locks up tight. I think they have done a great job producing this Barlow
It is a looker!GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:00 am Comfort....

What a cool knife! I thought you'd been posting some nice knives lately, Dog, but damn, this knife today is in a class of it's own.GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 1:00 am Comfort....

Thanks T!!! Where did you post the Bonfire series one, I think I missed it. I just got a new arrival yesterday, but I have not posted it yet, it is a Bear & Son Red Stag Two-Blade Barlow and (I just checked for you... looks to be sold out ...) ... I am pretty happy with what I have got from them lately. I think Bear & Son represent a good value. Of course, I would always prefer to buy USA made any day (when they make a good product)
Here, I’ll post it again…
What a cool knife, Tim, I must have missed it originally!
Ohhh, thanks, I like it!!! ... What a good-looking knife, Tim, ... I must have missed it originally!
Thanks M&M I have kept that Barlow next to my bed (I read a lot in bed ... actual books if you can believe that ) ... and from time to time I pull that Barlow out of its cloth case and rub the bone scales between my thumb and fingers.... oh, that's comfort!!!
Thanks, buddy, and yes, I do believe that stiletto is definitely one-of-a-kind!GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 1:59 amThanks M&M I have kept that Barlow next to my bed (I read a lot in bed ... actual books if you can believe that ) ... and from time to time I pull that Barlow out of its cloth case and rub the bone scales between my thumb and fingers.... oh, that's comfort!!!
What and how you described pulling out your Barlow while relaxing in bed is EXACTLY the feelings and reason I called this thread "Comfort Knives" all those pages ago..."rub the bone scales between my thumb and fingers"... ! Originally, and perhaps even now, some folks didn't get the idea of a comfort knife, but as time goes by it seems more and more guys are warming up to the concept. I have always found it quite simple actually, anything that brings on a warm and fuzzy feeling in one is bringing them comfort, so why not my knives. You also solved the mystery of why you are so full of knowledge, buddy, it's because you read, and actual books ta boot, good for you!
Well, the RPK's/Russian Prison Knife you posted is ... ... the 1st word that comes to me is .... "Insane" ... What a cool knife! That is one of a kind

This is one I've coveted since first viewing long ago, and although these are few and far between to find, I spotted this one. Others I have seen when one does come up for sale have prices beginning around $400. and increasing to as much as $900. for custom work models, so when I saw this gently used copy for around 1/4 of those costs it was a no-brainer. I was actually a bit suspicious of the price since any others were far higher, so I really did my due diligence prior to pulling the trigger, and was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box to find I'd simply got lucky, it's in great shape. That being said, the covers show signs of use so I'm now searching for somewhere to get replacement covers since they came with the cocobolo like mine but G-10 also.
The knife is 9" with a 154CM needle-point blade minus a N/N since it features a rotary-lock system for opening/closing, SS 2-piece frame that also acts as the liners, pocket-clip, lanyard bracket, and checkered cocobolo covers secured with screws.
It has a comfortable weight of 4 oz.'s and came with the cutting edge professionally sharpened.
The action is silky smooth, but it takes some practise learning how to open/close the blade with only 1-hand via the rotary-lock.
Other than the wear and tear on the covers, the fit and finish is excellent.
It quite surprises me that the previous owner would actually use a knife like this, IMO it's much more of a display piece, then again, I likely wouldn't have been able to afford it had it not been offered used.
