Buck 312 / 314 Buckbone

Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Buck 312 / 314 Buckbone

Post by Gunstock Jack »

These 312X & 314X trappers were made in the early 90's. I haven't seen many of these around. Can anyone tell me about production numbers? Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Very nice set of Brown Bone 312/314. Those were made in the 1989 era. Are not common, value it above the black sawcut scale 312/314 but not off the chart. They came in black sawcut, your BB and Ebony. The last are the hardest to find. There are several different 'quirky' black sawcut, such as brass scale/spring pin vs SS pin, upsidedown scale emblem, etc. only interesting for crazy collectors like myself. That 312 has really nice looking bone in the photo. Thanks for showing them. 300Bucks ::tu::

Great looking knife!

My guess would be that it was made by Camillus.
Does anyone know for sure?

Nope, Buck all the way. These were started about 1991 which was about the end of the Camillus contracting. The longest surviving Cami products were 321 Bird Knife, 313 Muskrat, 319 Rancher, 315 Yachtsman and the 311 Trapper. The 317 was in there also. Buck took over the 301,303,309 and 305 in late 1985. New models 312 and 314 were Buck production from the beginning. Camillus did a couple of special project contracts that were SMKW exclusives such as the 329 Yellow Trapper, the 322 Congress, the Buck California fish knives and the year 2000 large trappers. (Watch out on this one as some were assembled from parts right at Cami's end, with incorrect spring pin. Brass instead of SS and slightly different coloring jigged bone scales.)All these details will eventually be brought together for history report on the Buck Collectors website, if I ever get "all" the details..........300Bucks
