question on handle hafting ?
i guess its called hafting where the handles are sanded down on each end close to the bolsters ?? i was looking at some bone material on knifehandles.com, it was lighter colored toward the ends and darker in the middle, which looked good to me, i was wandering if you buy a set of those that are alot bigger than what you need for a smaller knife, if you would loose that lightness towards the ends, or does the light color come back as you sand down the ends "haft" for the knife, i guess iam asking if you sand down in to the bone does the color "dye" get lighter as you go deeper in it ? thanks.......

Re: question on handle hafting ?
the more you sand the lighter it will get, to an extent, the nyou hit a point where it starts getting darker halfway through the bone but you can avoid that by thinning the scale from the bottom some and the hafting.

Re: question on handle hafting ?
Try and find a size that is close to what you need.
On many of the scales they have a variety of sizes.
I have yet to have any of their bone handles come out looking bad.
Some do look better than others, but they all look nice.
