Great Eastern Patterns Explained

Post by Rustle47 »

I would like to thank Mike at CollectorKnives.net for his informative page "Great Eastern Patterns Explained". He has done a great job of showing how GEC patterns evolved and listing the pattern numbers. In fact, I printed out the info and keep it by the computer for reference. I used to feel so dumb not knowing what people meant when I read things like "I just received the greatest 36" or "I use my 23 all the time". Also, a #53 was sometimes a stockman and sometimes a muskrat. Now I understand GEC's philosophy a little better and look for pattern suffixes. I never got into memorizing Case's pattern numbers but, if needed, I have some books nearby to look up a Case number and get a picture &description. Now, I also have a resource for GEC knife identification. So, once again, a big THANK YOU to Mike at CollectorKnives.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
