Your knife is a later version of what earlier was called a crown jack pattern. This later circa 1915- 1923 incorporated the pinched top bolster and the marked rear bolster with a federal shield. This knife is an evolution of the similar earlier style. This pic is of the jigged bone version. The older version had a different shield and a different style top bolster. If I am correct your knife should be 3,5/8" long closed. LT

It632ret Yes it is 3 5/8" closed. I though that the wedge and bar logo started in about 1905, making me think this knife was at least pre1905, I research all my knives to the best of my ability, this new forum is helping me. When did the wedge bar logo start? I thank you for your help. After the Holiday I need help on a couple nap tool knives if you all don't mind to much.

You may be correct my observations were made due to yours being a later variation of the crown Jack which incorporated a different top bolster and shield that the first model. Sometimes the older logos were brought back but again you could be right it is only my opinion on knowing the earlier version . Attached is a pic of the 1910 Crown Jack also the fish jack and gunstock jack which were the first styles ( I believe to incorporate the logo bottom bolster ). a similar block style style of lettering ( like yours) was used by NYK until there demise around 1930. Schrade cut used the pinched bolsters on several models through that entire time period. Nap made some original Keens but did not have a model like that one. I cannot answer why that logo is used but the knife style I feel puts it in that time frame however if someone has some other info I am always willing to learn. LT
