Uncle Henry tang stamps

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Hey TR, can you tell if the stockman with the S.C.C.+ tang stamp is made with the swenden key system? Seems I remember someone telling me that Camillus made Schrade knives that carry that stamp, and they will have a different pull on the blade and fewer pins in the handles. I don't know that to be fact, nor can I remember who it was that told me that.

Aimus, this 886, and its little brother the 898 are not made with Swinden key construction. Your informant was probably Dale Vincent, AKA Orvet.

Hi all,

I just happen to have that thread bookmarked from a search some time ago.

http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... 24&start=0

Since then I have managed to get one each of the 898 and 886; they are pretty, pretty neat, and slightly different from their siblings.

Regards,
OG

From the thread OldGoat posted. Notice the 886UH Keith posted has a Camillus/Ulster swedge on the clip blade. I have an 886UH with more of a Schrade looking blade, like the one Calvin has post in the original post.
