r1253 bullet with handle chip
hey guys and gals from the remington community. i have a chance to buy a r1253 bullet from a fellow worker. he says his uncle bought it 15 yrs ago for $500. his uncle passed away a few yrs back and he got the knife. it looks very authentic to me. my only question is that the back handle, [ not the shield side] has a piece of bone missing from the bottom pin and it is missing 1/2 inch on either side of the pin downward, like the very top of a circle. he wants $450.. do you afficiondos think that is a good price for me to pay. what is your estimate on the resale of such a knife? it has the blade etch and beautiful patina. blade is full.and there is blade wobble but secure..sorry but i dont have the capabilities to post pics

If the etch is good, and the blade is authentic, $450 would be a very good buy. They made the reproduction 1253's in 1992, be sure it isn't one of them, or a counterfeit.

Very good,
. Are you planning on replacing the broken scale? If so I may be able to find one. A couple pictures would be nice.
