Hi All,
I thought I would offer up an evaluation of this knife. I got it from amazon for a few bucks a year ago and have found it to be one of the best utility knives I have ever had. It has opened hundreds of boxes and cartons, cut carpet when I was building a few washers games for my family, and generally whacked the heck out of stuff in my wife's garden.
The self sharpening feature really works! It has alternating diamond encrusted spring fingers in the handle such that on each closing it gets honed. The combination of this feature and whatever heat treatment they give to the stainless blade makes for a fairly long edge holding ability but really easy self-sharpening.
Additionally, the alternating spring fingers impart just enough of a serrated effect on the edge to make it fly through fibrous materials well.
There is another edgie as well, but it has a one-sided chisel grind and a continuous spring hone on one side of the handle and it simply doesn't hold a candle to the edgie2 in performance.
So if you need a utility knife that isn't a replaceable razor blade type, one that can take twisting and turning through material, get one of these. You will be pleased!
Regards,
Russell
