Hi all AAPK Members!
G'day to all AAPK Members.. my name is JD Thompson )JohnnydingoAUS) and I'm an Aussie.. I collect all types of old and new pocket & folding knives, but my speciality are most Spanish Albacete navajas etc.. I also play around on eBay trying to pick up a good deal or two on eBay-USA! I've purchased quite a lot and that is building my meager Collection.. I've got a bloody lot to learn and I was told this site was a very good one with knowledgable blokes to assist.. My favourite US classics would be Schrade (the only one pre:2004), Gerber, Camillus, Great Eastern Cutlery and some older Parker and Taylor pocket knives.. I'm a retired Australian Army Officer and now just Collect, go fishing (I live on the beach and at the beginning of the Great Barrier Reef) and I volunteer about 30 hours per week as a Native Australian Animal Carer.. people bring any injured Aussie Native Animals (mainly Dingo, Kangaroo, Wallaby, Sugar Gliders, Magpies and Parrots) to my home and I give any minor emergency care and arrange for the qualified Govt Vets to do the rest.. I also go out in my own Toyota Kluger 4WD and rescue animals & birds.. not much more to tell I 'spose.. I'll be probably bombarding you guys with requests for information on knives I need to find out about etc.., and Post pictures of ones that I need to identify.. Thank You to the Developers for accepting my registration to join, I'm honoured and grateful.. Cheers for now and cya later mates! John (Thommo) Thompson ~ JohnnydingoAUS

The think I mike best about you Aussies is that you are big fans of USA Schrades!

You'll find the members here to be very helpful, knowledgeable people willing to share. So, feel free to ask questions and I'm sure there will be someone on this site with an answer for you.
Always helpful to add pictures when discussing a particular knife.
Again welcome to the site.

G'day JohnnyDingo - I'm an Aussie too, and not to long joined this group. Everyone is very helpful here and Yes, there's a hell of a lot of knowledge here.
Orvet - About Aussies loving the Schrades - I know I do. I bought quite a few in the late 70's early 80's. The local barber shop had a big display of them, I suspose Schrade had a strong marketing arm in Oz.
