We Have Awesome Members @ AAPK

Post by orvet »

We really have some awesome members on AAPK!
Last week was a rough week for me. I had some old medical problems that flared up and kicked my proverbial hiney. I spent most of the week in a daze so it was really awesome when out of the blue and totally unexpected two knives showed up in my mailbox on the same day.

The first box I opened contained a Powr-Kraft whittler made by Camillus for Montgomery Wards. This knife came from Jerry D. Jerry knew I was collecting Camillus #72s in all the different brandings I could find. I will happily add this to my collection! This is the first one of this pattern I have seen with this branding.
Thanks Jerry! ::tu::

The second package contained a Schrade Walden 896K. It is in remarkably good condition and has been nicely clean. It seems that Phil (philco) purchase a knife from Scott (TripleF) and had Scott ship the knife to me after he had professionally cleaned it. Neither one of them knew that I did not have a good example of 896K with the old celluloid handles. Judging from the pins in the bolsters this knife was apparently made prior to Schrade’s switch to the Swinden machines, circa 1962-63. A great find!
Thank you Phil and Scott! ::tu:: ::tu::

The folks in this community never cease to amaze and inspire me. It's really good to know and share with a group of folks that really "get" what's important ...

Glad you're feelin' a little better, Dale.

Dale, you started this thread about the wonderfull members we have here and I agree but I have to say that since I have come to know you much better lately you are at the top of that list! Most folk dont know but you are the main reason that things are the way they are here at AAPK. You do so much more than most members know and yet still take the time to be friends with anyone you meet. I would also just like to take the time to say thanks for all you do here for us at AAPK and thanks for your friendship to me personally.
Gino ;)

::tu:: I know that I don't post very often here but I'm am here because of a wonderful transaction with Dale maybe a year and half to two years ago. I bought a stag handled Camco Barlow that Dale had made. There was a computer glitch and someone else bought knife. So what did Dale do? He made a new one up for me! ::ds:: Been a big fan here ever since. Glad your feeling better Dale!

I have been busy, now that I am feeling better, and have not had time to keep up with all the posts in many of the forums. I have been trying to get some work done in the shop and it is getting on to spring time so there is yard work and the Honey Do List. Tonight I have to change the oil in my wife’s car, etc.

I am truly humbled by the posts written here in the last couple weeks.
Thank you to all of you who have posted in this thread. It really means a lot to me.
I have made some remarkable friends here on AAPK!

The reason I looked this thread up is I wanted to add another beautiful knife to this thread!
I went to the Post Office today expecting to pick up a knife repair from Gino. Instead I found this beautiful knife that Gino sent to me. Gino knows I like easy open jacks, so when I opened the box this is what I found:
GEC BF ez open jack a from Gino.jpg
GEC BF ez open jack b from Gino.jpg

Thank you Gino, my friend! This is my new EDC. ::tu:: ::tu:: :D

BTW, I love the color of the bone!

::tu:: I am truly humbled by the comments on this thread. As a "new kid" on the block at AAPK, My hope is to have the opportunity to learn at the feet of the masters and earn the friendships and respect for one another that in evidence, each of you share.

I just want to second the good things that have been said about Dale. He's a class act and a good friend. He's also a good Christian man and someone we can all look up to. He's also a deadly shot with that ray gun he uses on the spammers.

If I may be so bold, I'd like to nominate Dale to become the second member of the AAPK Hall of Fame. Do I hear a second ?
