A couple of months ago, I bought a junk Schrade with the thought of learning to rehandle. I studied the tutorials and got some valuable information from Dale before making my first attempt. I used a piece of scrap aluminum for handle material. I learned a lot from this experience. Al

That handle material would throw of any Schrade collector!

And as Dale says... your in for it now... "working on knives is more addicting than collecting."

Before the modern aluminum production methods (in the 1930 I think), aluminum handles on a knife was quite expensive as aluminum was very expensive and made in small batches. A knife with aluminum handles was quite expensive.
