Yes, they exist. If you look hard enough some will turn up at knife shows and on the internet for sale

Re: pearl scout knife
New York Knife Co., Ulster Knife Co., and Remington each made an official Boy Scout knife with pearl handles. Sadly I do not own one so I can't show you photos. If you find one, prepare to part company with several Benjamins. They don't go cheap.

Be careful of rehandled knives, too. Ebay has been eaten up lately with reworked, rehandled scouts.
Phil, I assume a pearl Remington would have the appropriate pattern number?

Re: pearl scout knife
The last number of the pattern number should be 4 if it is an original Remington pearl handle knife.

To take this thought further. Ebay has been selling Camillus scouts with Pearl handles. They are all rehandled selling for a couple of hundred bucks or less. Getting a legit one would be a score. I saw one sell for over a grand last year. Save your money.RobesonsRme.com wrote:Be careful of rehandled knives, too. Ebay has been eaten up lately with reworked, rehandled scouts.

One of our members has a Remington pearl scout over on the boy scout knife site. He has it displayed in one of the 12 knife, Remington displays. It is a eye catcher.

If my memory serves my right it was a Remingtom. It was in good condition with some of the blade etch still visible. One thing for sure the MOP scouts are very rare. I also believe I saw am original Ulster MOP but I never knew for sure that it was actually made that way.Miller Bro`s wrote:wazu013 wrote: I saw one sell for over a grand last year. Yes, Ulster made an official pearl handle scout knife.wazu013 wrote: I saw am original Ulster MOP but I never knew for sure that it was actually made that way.
The reason you do not see many is, what parent would spend that kind of money on a pearl knife when a jigged bone one would do? Unless you had rich parents and they only wanted the very best for their kid

Re: pearl scout knife
Do you think maybe they might have been purchased mostly for achievement awards? Like making it to Eagle Scout or some above and beyond deed. Never really meant to be used, but more as a trophy. I just can't imagine any parent buying an official BSA knife with pearl handles. Well, maybe some of them Beverly Hills parents.
