100+ Year Old Schrade... Not!

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

100+ Year Old Schrade... Not!

Post by smiling-knife »

Hi guys. This one is listed as 100 years old but I think more like 1950s. For one thing, no stainless blades around 1900. I would appreciate any further info on this knife. Thanks in advance :) s-k

your right S-K, they didn't use the walden stamp 100 years ago, if it was anywhere close to his estimated date it would be marked schrade cut co, not schrade walden, still a nice piece

Thanks MM. I like corkscrew knives. Dare I ask what might be an appropriate bid for such a knife? I suppose it depends on the condition of the stanhope. The seller was asked the question but seemed to miss the point.

Is that a Stanhope lens I see? Wouldn't be the first time I have seen a seller peddle one of those things without mentioning it... because he doesn't know what it is.
