Fun with burlap

I tried something a little different today. Burlap and canvas with fiberglass resin, stonewashed blade. I think it turned out pretty cool.

Yes/No, I've seen a bunch of videos on YouTube in how to make homemade micarta. Seems like you can use just about any material and fiberglass resin in a vise.

I have been intrigued with being able to make your own micarta, and have seen a few videos of the process.

What has my attention is the lanyard hole!! Nice touch. What size is it and how did you make it?
(PS Where can ya find CLEAR resin? I would like to try and make some material myself.)

The burlap, once resin is added, it gives a very nice depth.

I actually got the resin from Home Depot. It's not really clear, kinda amber in color. As far as the lanyard I believe it's a 5/32 bit. Drill the holes out on the butt end of the liners only and then use a small round file to open up the squared off opening of the backspring to fit.

Just couldn't leave well enough alone. Tried my hand at puting in a shield and added a lanyard.
