Grant, I have two sets of those knives in the Displays.
That knife is an "N.Y. 8OT Old Timer". The bone looks like the same bone on the old Walden 881.
I have never seen an 8OT with bone handles like that one, with that N.Y. stamp... Ken

The jigging doesn't look anything like the handles on those Schrade Classics.
My initial impression, those two Old Timers have been re-handled. Second guess, lunchbox specials from someone at Schrade. Third guess...

Hi Bob, The "8OT N.Y." was made about or just after the Walden 881 were being made, with bone handles.Bob W. wrote:The jigging doesn't look anything like the handles on those Schrade Classics.

I would say the 8OTs and the 881 are the same knife; just a diferent tang stamp on the blade... Ken

On photos I've found of the Walden 881, the jigging looks a bit different.
And if it were just the blade being swapped, I'd say it's just a typical instance of mix-and-matching parts.
But the OT shield in addition to the blade... No one did that on accident.

I have 3 sets of bone with the same jigging.
I don't rcall where I got them from, perhaps ebay, but I was told they were Schrade bone.

This is the 8OT with the bone handles; and an 881 from my collection.
Bob your right, the jigging looks a bit different.

The 881 isn't a good match to the jigging, but those loose scales sure are.

I'm with Bob on this one. In fact, I think I saw that knife on eBay from a seller with several others I thought had handles that had been redone. Ken the 881 you are showing is a Delrin Schrade Walden, where as the original knife is a post 1973 Schrade NY that was made when there were not any jigged bone knives done like that, and especially OLD TIMERS.

Dale has looked at the knife, and mentioned the stainless rivet on the blade side.
The knife has had the handles poorly replaced. They can’t fool Old Dale!

Re: Schrade 8OT - Bone Handle ? - I have never seen one like
Same seller has posted several Schrades with non-factory bone. That bone was all put on from supplies of German or IXL bone, typical of the Parker 1978 knives (Bison, Johnny Muskrat, Mink, etc.) and the Tradesman series, etc. All put-togethers, no original or "prototype" stuff here. Nice, though. That seller doesn't know jack about the big stash of stuff he bought for re-sale; his listings suck and his prices are absolutely unreal; I wouldn't buy anything from him. He had a very nice old Schrade Cutco stockman with cell handles and his price was about 500% of market. No descriptions of course. The listings are all that way. He must have bought a pickup load.

It is disapointing to see such a fool, trying to sell items he knows nothing about.
