A unique Buck 110

I can honestly say, I've never seen another Buck 110 like this. Done to a clients specs. I made new brass liners from thin 1/16" stock, did my modified clip on the blade, and added black palm endgrain (very nice wood, I liked working with this alot, a hard wood that polishes nicely) I concealed all the large pins beneath the scales and put three nickel pins in each scale. I also did some arrowhead filework. All done to the clients requests. I really like this modification and it cut the weight of the knife nearly in half! Will be a pleasure to carry now. That black palm feels really good in hand. Anyway enough of my chatter, on with the pics.

That is a great looking knife my friend. Black Palm is one of my favorites, guess you guys have heard that more than once.

Beautiful knife, the end grain looks excellent on the Buck and the arrowhead filework is good with that wood. I'm going to purchase a couple Buck 110's for my son and I to modify this coming June. Black Palm is one of the options along with striped ebony if I can find pieces that will work. I thought about using just the front bolsters, but this one is making me rethink that one.

The background seems to make the spots in the wood jump right out at you. Great work and pictures. Thanks for sharing those, I'm hooked on Palm like that.

Kaleb, I know you treat your knives very well!

I was wondering about the first time the customer tries to split a deer pelvis with the knife like he used to do with his "other 110"?

Believe it or not I have had customers tell me they did that very thing, when I ran a cutlery store!

The amazing thing is that the 110 wasn't damaged.

After a decade in a cutlery store I have heard so many stories of "knife abuse" that I shudder.
"I just ran over it with my combine on the concrete floor of the shop. That shouldn't break it!"
Or; "I just threw it at a soft cedar tree. That shouldn't break a good knife! I do that with all my other knives, and they don't break." IIRC, that was an AL Mar boot knife that sold then for about $125.

There ain't no cure for stupid!

Or; "I was cleaning my battery termanals and I just pried up a little bit to loosen the clamp. It shouldn't have snapped in half like that."

And the stories go on...... ::blah:: ::blah:: ::blah::

As a knife customizer/maker I worry about how the customer will use the knife.
I think you & I (and other customizers/makers here at AAPK) are very fortunate to have the customers we do at AAPK & in other knife forums. They are more knowledgeable about knives & I think more respectful of the knife itself. I would expect far less abuse from them than the general public. But those years in the cutlery store still give me nightmares!
