Case Knife eBay Postings to Discuss

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Case Knife eBay Postings to Discuss

Post by RalphAlsip »

I had a difficult time deciding where to post this so I created a new topic. It doesn't look obviously (to me) like a questionable knife although jigging seems off and the pocket wear evident on the handles is not commensurate with the wear evident on the shield.

This is a Case Tested XX 6394 posting.

Here is the seller's description: (I added the emphasis)

This is an extremely rare Case xx Tested Greenbone 6394 large cigar knife. This knife is in fantastic condition. It has light blade rubs and has been called the nicest example of this knife known to exist. This type of knife will not be cheap but it truly is a treasure for any collection.

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen a nicer example of a Tested XX 6394 ?

Despite its over-buffed condition, somebody just recently liked it. A lot! ::woot::

I don't like it at all. I find it very difficult to believe the amount of wear on the handles compared to the lack of wear on the blades. The color of the bone looks off to me for a Case Tested knife. Could just be the pics but I'd like to see it in hand before I would call it correct. Like others have said, at very least over and aggressively buffed knife. Not what I would call a fine example.

I sold a much nicer correct example Tested 6394 about 3 years ago for less than $1000. I'm sure the knife I sold was not the nicest example of this knife known to exist.
