Re: Ken Steigerwalt
Interesting. I already have this knife saved in my ebay watch list. Do you know how long ago it was made ?
I know of Ken Steigerwalt but am not familiar with his work or prices, new or on the secondary market.
Are you concerned about the risk of taking a loss without a reserve ?

I don,t known when it was made. I am very concerned about no reserve on this auction, but a lot of people will not bid on auction with a reserve.

Re: Ken Steigerwalt
I agree many people will not bid if a reserve is placed, but i think this applies mainly to production knives. A reasonable reserve is seen as acceptable on a high value custom knife. All it will do is stop the bottom fishers from bidding, those who hoped to score the knife for say 1/4 of it's value.
A reasonable reserve will not deter the serious collector as it still allows for a good deal for the buyer.
But what is 'reasonable' for a reserve ? I think it depends in part on the knife as every custom is a unique item.
I have bought custom knives on ebay that had a reserve. One of these is a magnificent pearl with a gold chain wrap, DL Jack by Joel Chamblin. The $500 reserve was likely around 50% of original price and this i find quite acceptable. Now i have this knife for a reasonable price and seller did loose out totally.
